I was just wondering if it was possible to transplant an OEM crown and guard with an OEM if they use the same movement. I am asking for pam 196 with 7753 and a pam 63 with 2893.

Oops, I meant a rep for an OEM crown and guard. I'm doing too many things at the same time.

From what I understand it is possible, but very expensive.

Panerai parts are not found for sale too often and if they are they are usually not OEM parts.

The OEM parts are really expensive.

Thanks,
I was just wondering if it was worth the hassle of looking for OEM crown and guard if it didn't fit in the first place. My lello crown didn't work without more mods than i was willing to make myself. I was hoping to spend more and get an OEM. As you can tell the crown issue bothers me. :x
Also, how are the jimmyzfu crown guards?

I've got 6 of Palpatine's / Marcus's Crowns on the way... supposedly.
3 Unitas and 3 ETA
The latest word is the production run of these crowns is flawed with too much material removed from the 45degree angle on the edges. Of course I found this out after I paid for 6 of them..
Still they will be nice for projects and they should still be better than the anorexic crowns that are on some of the reps out there but they are FAR FROM PERFECT.

As another replica guru pointed out though If they can make them wrong, they can make them right!

I may get ahold of a genuine crown. If I do I'm going to see about having these things correctly reproduced here in the US and put this crown issue to rest once and for all!

If you do, I'll buy six to make up for your six.

Personally, I would love to get an OEM crown too. This would be a worthwhile mod apart from reluming the hand and dial.

Is the crown issue on all pam's

I just ordered the 111ha Best from EL. What should I look for when it arrives to determine if I should be on the waiting list for a new crown? Still looking for the rep that can match the gen.

The crown should be as fat as Garfield
Just kidding! How about the lumination and AR coating? Some of the rep have AR coating that is too light. The crown thickness should be exceeding 2mm.

The six crowns I ordered arrived today! WooHoo! they are flawed as mentioned but they are an improvement over the Eddie Lee crowns so one will go on mine if there is not much tinkering involved!

Eddie Lee’s crowns are a bit anorexic but his AR is great and so is the lume on the dial!

enzo is correct, changing the crown isn’t always going to be a straight swap in fact you will more than likely have to change or modify the tube and crown guard buckle to fit perfectly with a replacement crown.

Everyone says they are coming up with a crown but nobody seems to actually be able to do it right.

A respectable shop could produce a couple thousand of these or more in a day with only a couple hundred dollars of setup time and half that again in quality stainless steel stock.

It just seems absurd that something as simple as a pam crown has become the holy grail of the rep community.

crowns

stangvert the 111h from el will need reluming as well as the new crown. You might also consider fixing the recessed pin. The only thing I plan on doing to any panerai reps is reluming until someone makes a crown that is up to oem standards otherwise it seems like a waste of time for me personally. I have only seen one real panerai on a person in my area. Most people wear rollies and omega's.
