PAM 111 Experts,

I have been modding Rolex reps and working on ETA 2824/36s for years and, thanks to this forum, I have built a beautiful Planet Ocean. I have now gotten the PAM bug and have taken delivery of a Noob V3 PAM 111 (from Trevor, great service...fast).

I just have a couple of questions regarding the MS screw mod and the "Y-shaped" Incabloc mod. I have read the "sticky" material and it does a very nice job of detailing the need for the mods but I didn't find where to source the parts. My apologies if I have missed something.

1. If I order a Complete Incabloc Upper Jewel Set for 6497/98 from Ofrei, would that have the "Y" configuration in the bloc. They do not post a pic of the unit, but I believe that it would.

2. Easy one. Where can I source the longer MS screw? It would like to think that one could source a complete, gen swan neck unit that would work on the rep movement.

Thanks!

Yes, the complete upper is what you need. The part is only $15, but the labor is a pain in the ass... and you'll need to regulate the movement after. As far as sourcing a Gen MS screw, Im not sure you can. I dont know for certain, but that might be a Panerai specific thing... I've seen Swiss 6497-2's and they don't have one.

I don't think the incabloc is a simple drop in affair. It is not the same size, the hole needs to be reamed out a bit IIRC.

The screw will require you getting another. You'll have to buy a 6497 and plunder the screw. You can get a Seagull on ebay for about $50, so not too bad. The screws are all the same (too small) size. I break them proportionately to what I want them to look like on each end while factoring the amount that will get threaded back into the swan.

Dont forget, polish the outer rims of the crown & ratchet wheels.

Thanks to you both.

@P4GTR - That is what I was afraid of. I kinda' got that from some "sticky" material that I read but it was not explicit. I neglected to ask if the gen Incabloc was a direct replacement. Oh well...nothing is ever easy in this (rep) world. Already polished the wheels. That is a great mod.

@ Strodda - I may see if my dealer might try to source something from the H factory. They usually will not, because there isn't a lot in it for them...nor the factory.

Thanks again!

That's why I pay an extra 100 bucks(no kidding) to TD to get them fix the inca when I bought my 111. I'm good with touching every part of the watch but not the balance.

As for screw mod, it used to be modders trade secret but boss recently made a tutorial on lengthening the screw but trust me, ain't no simple task. Screw is as fine as my nose hair haha.

You need a special tool for the incabloc mod.
Price just for this tool is around $1000

@P4GTR - I just wanted to revisit this. I have looked through all the "sticky" material on this and other forums and cannot find that the gen Incabloc shock unit is not a direct replacement for the rep.

I have serviced many ETA and Asian-made 2824/36s and many other brands, but never a 6497. I have always disassembled the balance cock and US cleaned the parts. Nothing could be easier as it all just snaps together. You do have to remove the hairspring from the balance cock but that is not a problem if you done it a few times. (You usually tear something up the first few times) If the Incabloc Shock Unit is a direct replacement, then I can do it...no problem. But I just don't want to get into it and find that some milling has to be done.

I have never read that anything has to be modified to change this out, but then I have never read what, exactly, must be done. The only thing about that is that member "goin" removed the rep block and filed it to shape and then replaced it. If the $15.60 gen part from Ofrei is a direct replacement then I can't imagine what someone would do this.

I'm just trying to "nail" this down or else I will send the movement to vaccum for the mod.
