NOOB FIFTY FATHOMS - QUALITY AND MOVEMENT

Hey!

I'm planning to buy a three hand, black dial, steel, Fifty Fathoms and have been told Noob is the best maker. Does anybody think otherwise?

On some TD sites the Noob is stated to contain an A2824 movement but on others the movement is said to be the A2836. Does anybody know if Noob has recently changed the movement it's putting into this watch (I think from the A2824 to the A2836) and if they have, does it matter - is one of these movements better than the other and if so should I be going for this version? Presumably the case and strap are the same?

Finally, if anybody owns the Noob FF - are you pleased with it?

Thanks.

Yes, great watch. I have the V1, you won't be able to get this version but I don't think the changes are that drastic to the current version. Wouldn't really care what Asian movement is inside - its a simple 3 hand watch. If the movement craps out you can service it or transplant a swiss movement inside.

E-mail a TD and ask. I've heard they can get them fine. Maybe PureTime as they are connected close to noob fac.

I now have my BPFF V2, purchased without any problems from Torro and I love it! There's the usual slight 9 and 12 miss-alignment, which annoyed the hell out of me at first (without this it would be perfect, come on Noob) but now I don't really notice it. Is the crystal raised slightly too high on one side? Who cares, it's one of my favourite reps and is highly recommended.

Now I'm already turning my attention to the No Radiation FF, which has the advantage of not having a 9 or 12 to be misaligned. Does anybody have one and if so do they recommend it? What should I be looking for? Is there only one source (Noob) and if so, what generation should I be going for (V1, V2)?

Welcome to BP obsession. A nonradiation will take you awhile to find. It's sold out and every TD that has it listed will inform you after you pay they can't get it. Just saved you the huge hassle I went through. The ones on Ali are quartz and look like crap irl. You'll have to hunt m2m. The noob Flyback chronos seem better with letter alignment and the blue face does also imo. You can get a good aligned v2 (I got one) but you need to be thorough in QC and reject them until right. Even a slight misalignment or something else though doesn't matter really, these look 98% gen even to a gen owner.

I have a Noob V1 and it's one of my favourites. Extremely well made. I'd recommend the black version instead of blue as the black is 99.9% correct. It is a masterpiece.

Blue is almost spot on except the second ring bruiche is missing. Noob v1 hands down the best rep of any watch I've seen if you got one with right alignments. It also just feels gen on your wrist (once you swapped out the strap of course)
