I hate to have to do this but everyone starts somewhere...

I got a V6F Radiomir 512 from sead and everything is perfect, except it's not winding how I'd expect. I was expecting to unscrew the crown anti-clockwise until it pops out a little and then wind clockwise until I feel tension, but all I can do is unscrew/screw it back in. It does pull out so I'm able to set the time and whatever I've done with it has given enough power to go a few hours so far, even though I hardly managed to move the crown wheel. At a loss really, any help would be appreciated.

Alright, unscrew it very carefully and barely pull it out. You should feel a slight click as it moves into the first position (Second position is the time setting position). Wind in the first position until tension is felt. If you cant feel it move into the first position, unscrew the crown until it isnt locked anymore, and try to wind with the crown out and not locked. Hopefully that helps.

Pretty much what CPR said mate, hold it away from the threads and wind.

Dammit, this is looking DOA. I can't find the winding position, the only time the crown wheel moves is when I start to feel resistance when the crown is almost screwed back in. What do you think my options are? Back to HK?

Cheers for the help with this.

I'm hoping I can sort this without having to send it back to sead.

Correct me if I'm wrong but an unscrewed crown on a 512 should be springy i.e. you can push it down a little in the unscrewed position? I don't have that. The only time I see the crown wheel move is when I'm retightening the crown, right before it's in its fully tightened position.

It seems like a problem with the stem, probably fixable. I know an old school German watch smith who looks after my gens but I don't want to damage my relationship by bringing him a rep.

Shame because it looks great on the wrist.
