No love for the Mille Metri Prototype ? Did not find any reviews...

Hi Tribe,

I came across the Mille Metri prorotype.

She is stunning ! lots of personality and strap combo seems promising.

however, besides River ads, I did not find any reviews or ALE review on it.

What is not a popular model among you guys ?

Which model is more thought after ? SS sandblasted or PVD Black ?

I think it's not as popular because not that many people know what it is. and also because it would look comical on anything less than a 7 inch wrist.

As far as the actual watch goes, the gen was never made in SS. They were titanium and the were also a few with an odd lug design (Called the hinge-lug) that were made in bronze. River's case is only available in SS. A case maker on HF named Esdee makes them in Ti but his have different bezel notches that the gen didn't have. He also did a very limited run of the bronze hinge-lug.

Also the gen had a thick Plexiglas dial with the lume applied to the back. The dial in river's is a thin brass one with the lume on top, so if you have an eye for details, it's definitely noticeable.

I haven't owned river's mille metri, but I've heard many great things about it. I even heard of one member of HF water proofing his to 1200 meters!

Many thanks, I was on the homage forum, Esdee seem to be the go to plater for those, I did not find the price of his beauties but it seems that he is in another league compare to River release...

I think I will give a try to the River one even if it is in SS. I juts love it loads

I saw the other TDs marketing it as well. I reckon that is the same watch as River ? no other factories did produce it right ?

The ones on the TD's sites are River's.

Also the prices of Esdee's cases are pretty steep. The Ti one's in his last batch went for $1,400.

Ok noted... I will pass on Esdee for now on ... I saw River last add was a sandblasted ss model running on a Seagull, where as the other TDs are ss models on A 2428...

the River one sandblasted on Seagull seems the best offering here...

On the other hand fire007 if you may consider homage Mille Metri you can look either Fondale or Maranez.
Fondale is obviously a better quality and comes with bigger price tag.
However Maranez is considerably cheaper and offers more size, case material and dial colour & markers options.
Maranez is an Hong Kong based micro watch maker and I suspect they may be linked with Heldon Watch Company as their watches come in identical watch boxes.
The Mille Metri homage offered by Maranez is called Bangla.
Currently they are running two batches;
1. Maranez Bangla 44mm
The case is blasted brass in 44mm diameter with titanium case back. The watch comes with one leather strap and big brass buckle and one rubber strap with brass buckle. and it has Seiko NH35 automatic movement (pretty accurate)
I own this watch with black Cali dial and it is gorgeous.
2. Maranez Bangla 47 mm
This is their latest batch produced in blasted bronze case due to big demand from Bangla owners. Also comes with ti case back.
Sara from Maranez informed me that end of this year they will be re-introducing their 47mm blasted Ti Bangla.
The Brass Bangla is $349 delivered. Mine took 4 days from purchase to delivery to UK.
I am waiting for the Ti homage which is closer to Mille Metri.

I cannot actually wait for the Ti case to be re-introduced.
You get a lot of watch for $350.
I believe the Ti version is only $50 dearer.

So far , I've owned two mille metris...

first , it was Esdee's Titanium



then it was river's pvd with some heavy aging process by Elias Livadaris




and now...

I'm about to receive esdee Bronze Mille again with some extreme work from Ice_Gee




only 5 like these available worldwide (ok...and the gen one) and I'm the proud owner of the one of them...
