No love for Panerai

However, it is true that people get watches for different reasons. There are those of us who love how Panerai's look on their wrist and others who want flashy crap. I doubt the latter guys even think about or know about panerais.

I read that before. The problem is he is not comparing similar priced watches. Not everyone can afford a 50k watch. I am sure the writer can't afford it either.

I read through all his articles linked above, and he just hits on pam as an outdated watch, which some of his arguements you really cant counter... he is right in some aspect, but he seems to be a Baume and Mercier guy, AP,etc..

One thing I dont agree with is his opinion on how a rolex is much much better than these other brands.

Old article, seen it a few times during the years searching for Panerai stuff, never had the patience to read it, the first phrase made me move on. He sounded like an idiot, now that I've read it I'm convinced he is.
The article seems to be from 2010 and he's talking about Pams like it's a passing fad. Who's the clown now?

Not my cup of tea... there's absolutely no character. They look like every other watch out there. Go ahead "writer for ask men" Toss down $20K on a watch that looks like it costs $200. I'll buy 4 Panerais for the same price (or 80 super reps:hehehe.

I love how he compared a $100,000 dataograph to $10,000 chrono Panerai.

It really shows how much he knows about watches.

A gen tourbillon Panerai is the most understand watch available today. IMO of course.

vintage Rolexs hold thier value better than any watch out there. Patek is a close second.

I had previously liked but not felt Panerai's were the real deal, I didn't do my homework, just suddenly saw this 'new' Italian brand pop up next to IWC, AP and the rest in Watches of Swizerland. I thought it was style with no good reason and didnt understand the history. That was 10+ years ago

Okay we can all say they didnt make their own movements and don't have the pedigree of the best. But to my pretty limited knowledge JLC is the only brand that does and always has made it's own movements throughout. My IWC Doppel is not 100% home grown IWC and still isn't. Take a peak at Rolex Daytona's a few years back. Panerai are not Patek, never will be. I like them for what they are and thoroughly enjoy wearing my 10 year old gen IWC and 1 month old Panerai rep just the same
