I received a KW PAM417 yesterday and I wanted to upload some pictures here and give some thoughts on the watch. After the first full day with it, I'm really enjoying the casual look and despite its heft, it really feels light on my wrist. Much lighter than my UPO. Additional Wristshots are posted in this thread: Pam417 Wristshots.
Initial impressions:
- Looks very nice. It fits into my collection well because it doesn't look like anything else that I currently have. I really like the crystal and how clear The case has a solid feel except the spring bars seem to have a loose fit because when press the leather straps where they attach to the case there is some give. I don't have any other watches with leather straps so I don't know if it's normal, but it just doesn't feel solid like metal bracelets feel. That brings me to the key flaw on this particular watch: one of the holes drilled into the lug is *very* close to the edge--even more than usual with KW versions. I saw it in the QC pics but was hoping it was just the camera angle. Looking at it now, it looks paper thin, but doesn't seem to have any effect because the spring bar with the loose play is the opposite one. From a distance, it is very difficult to spot.
- The leather strap seems a little short for my 8" wrists. I'm using the middle (4th) hole and would have liked a little extra length to fit under the first keeper. The second keeper is useless to me, but luckily it is sized slightly larger so it can fit over the first keeper and stay out of the way. I also would have preferred a slightly darker leather colour.
- The lume is nice. It's very bright when initially charged but I was a little disappointed to see how quickly it dimmed afterwards. However, I wore the watch through the night and in the dark the time was clearly and visible all night long. I can't say it's the same for all my watches. I was impressed and happy with it.
- It seems to keep time a little fast at about +14 sec/day, but that doesn't bother me. I might try regulating it down the road if I get bored. I have other watches to wear if I need up-to-the-second accuracy. And I'd have to search and find out how to actually regulate a PAM like this first
.
Most of these pictures are unedited except for cropping, but I had a little fun with some props and filters for a few of them.
