Newbie ready to pull the trigger (PAM 299 vs Chopard GT XL)

Hi guys , First time rep buyer here and I am in search of a nice "sporty kinda" looking watch and the Chopard GT XL ultimate version filled that hole, so I was ready to buy the Chopard , I even sent Tony from Asian7750 a mail thus startin the contact to make the purchase but then I saw ALE7575 welcoming comment and decided to come on and visit the Panerai Forums and I did some reading, now I really did my homework guys and decided that the PAM 299 K was a very nice looking watch , I really like it! and its sporty enough (cause of the steel bracelet) to be taken into consideration, both have good movements and both are superb made reps (see I did my homework) and both are sporty enough to me.

So what am I asking here? Well, I want to know what are the PROS from buying and wearing a PAM over other brands? Why are they so popular? Can it be worn in more occasions? Gives more watch pressence? Looks better? Feels better?Drags more girls towards the owner? lol... Its up to you to tell me .

Hi Mate,

My first rep was the Chopard mille miglia gt xl chrono (grey). I love it ,the quality is amazing except I got the cheaper $250 model with out the super lume. I wore it for two months and basically no one really noticed it but I don't care as I love the watch.

My next rep was the PAM KW 411 which is exceptional quality. The first day alone I had four people comment on it. It is simple and classy.

Having said that when I have borrowed the wifes Pam Noob 292j no one has said anything nor has she had any comments on the few occasions she has worn it when going out.

I don't know how to answer on your questions but you will see that there is something about PAMs when you get your first one. Just like almost every PAM owner did, including me. Maybe you're right about girls as they comments on my 111 pretty often. hehe

Also PAM on bracelet is nice but nothing can compare with one on nice leather strap. And when you get your first aftermarket strap you can't stop, just like buying PAMs.

Enjoy in your first and definitely not last PAM purchase!

Your choice is a taste question, and as you can guess I would say that I prefer the PAM.
Chopard is a very nice watch and the replica is very good too. No problems about to choose a Chopard.
But PAM is always a different watch full of personality and unmistakable.
PAM replicas have the highest quality at "reasonable" prices
But as above said you must follow your own taste.
Anyway, ask yourself how you were attracted to PAMs, just for my comments?

Regarding The model you are talking about I have not had yet time to update the PAM GUIDE, but there are some evolutions in this model.
Either Noob or H maker have started the O-series version, which sports the same type of dial as N-series and are fitted with a better crystal and Cyclops than previous versions.
Therefore you should go to O-series. Maybe they are not in some dealer catalogues but ask dealer for the O-series.
Between H maker and Noob I would prefer without doubts Noob, because it has better case and mainly better CG (almost perfect). This Noob model is using the dial and crystal of another new Super replica: the PAM 104 O-series Noob.

I was impressed by the quality of PAM 299 K-series when I got mine, and the new version is still better. I bought it for collection purposes but first time I worn it during a week, it is really awesome.

In the same kind of watch I can recommend you, if you like a more complex dial, the new PAM 297 O-series Noob. Another new Super replica

With these watches you will get an advantage. If you buy a nice strap you can get completely different watches in less two minutes. A very interesting and useful feature !!

Just a warning: they are heavy watches.

Buy anything other than a Panerai. If you buy a PAM, you will be sucked into a vortex from which there is no escape. You'll end up buying another, and another, and another.... Your family will disown you.... eventually you will die with Panerais strapped up both arms, from wrist to shoulder. I hadn't heard of Panerai when I discovered this forum, but it was my first rep. Now I have about ten of them, and have sold all the other reps I bought. It's a disease, my friend...... (and welcome). I agree: forget the metal bracelet for a Panerai. Get yourself a fine leather strap--or even one of the rep Asso straps. They are pretty good.

Thanks for your feedback nice people, and making an examination of both watchjes and their possibilities A am going to order the PAM , its moree versatille as ALE7575 and shelby1501 say, you can change the strap and you have a diferent watch, you can make it casual, dressy,sporty , you name it... The strap of the Chopard is part of its beauty so in my taste shouldnt be changed, maybe it will be my 2nd purchase un a couple of months, or maybe another Panerai! lol lets see what happens , Im nervouss cause ive read tjhat you have to be patient when ordering and that takes some time and all that and i want it asap!!...lol just kiddin so I,ll jump into the no escapin vortex as nielsen said.

excellent choice - I ordered the 299 as my first rep and love love love it.

I wore mine on the bracelet for about 2 weeks but have switched to a couple of black and brown leather straps, very easy to change with the quick change button.

I get comments quite often, and I think it looks and feels great. I got the Noob version from Purtetime btw.

hi OP, i used to be in same boat as you....considering the Chopard but decided not to because I think the version thats available now is not the best version. Its still a very good replica, but at that time I decided to wait if someday some maker make a better version.

I own the 299K, its a very good looking watch, and I use it as my daily beater. I got a lot of compliment for it, and I think the gen price is still "affordable" enough so that less chance of people calling you out.

My only concern for the 299K is the cyclops, but as Ale has stated, now there's a newer version available which addressed the cyclops issue.

I have 1 question for Ale & all....
In my Noob 299K, few parts of the watch have a sharp edge, especially the part that connect to the bracelet (sorry I don't know the name of that part). Is it normal? Hows the gen & is there some fix that we could do?

299 is good choice, cheap only 249 bucks and you got bracelet.

For me it's a no-brainer. The PAM299 is probably one of the more versatile watches you can get which is also a really high quality rep. Add an extra rubber strap and a leather strap to your order and you have 3 completely different watches.

I did it! the the PAM 299 K it is. Order placed with toro bravo cause it was 10 dollars less than any other place ( $238 ), and accepted visa. Now just wait.
