I bought my first pam not long ago. I've noticed that every time when i push the lever back to the closed position, the crown slants before it locks. Is it normal or a defect? Will i break it?

No, gosh, it's waaay, not normal. The pin must press the crown right in the center.

has the crown been pushed back in? it looks like you're trying to push the crown in from the time setting position instead of the winding position..

yes, that's exactly what i was doing in the photo.

the crown tilted while i was pushing the lever, then it sat in the winding position level.

or should i set the crown back into the winding position before i push the lever down?

Well. all of mine behaves like this. Isn't it supposed to be spring loaded? If i push it vertically in.. The crown wouldnt "click" in place, instead it will feel spongy.
Crown has to be slanted before it can "click" to winding position.
I use Two fingers, one on each side of the cg. So far, nothing breaks :/

Edit: i onced asked rochest abt this, he told me it was normal.

Yes, you should set the crown into winding position and then close the lever. I think that's why it looks like this in your picture.

^^^^this^^^^

The lever is a device to apply pressure to the crown to provide a water seal not as an aide to closing the crown.
