That's interesting. I was just researching the 228's today. Actually ordered one of the 224's so I'll see how that looks first.

Seems like the very same model offered by Sead and Ryan a while ago, still with the same issue: only available with the gen croc strap :)

These models are not new, they are from September 2015
They belong to the new generation 2015 of H maker reps

When the release I was very reluctant about these reps, but I decided to get a PAM 224 Firenze and I was really well impressed.
As we all know, there are inaccuracies in the case having sharper edges than gen and the transition edge son the bezel are also sharper than gen, but the finish is really awesome and the rep has a strong gen-like appearance. Surprisingly the rep croco strap is really good and could be considered appropriate for the watch. caseback is alos well made with crisp and defined engravings.
The dial of PAM 228 has accurate layout and only the inscriptions LUMINOR Firenze GMT PANERAI on dial are thinner than gen. Most likely the dial blue colour and sunburst will not be exactly as gen but the appearance is impressive.

At least they are First Class good or high level reps.

Thanx Ale.. :)

I think I've never seen an Ale wrist shot.... ;)
I mean it would be nice to also see some real photos of the watch and not just from a TD..

Should we consider it the best blue-dialed pam at the moment?

Surprisingly, I've still never come across a non-TD picture of the PAM 228 H-maker. Have you seen any, and if so, would you mind sharing the link? Thanks, ALE.

I posted this not terribly good pic of mine from PT in the skinny wrist thread a couple of days ago.. In normal use the reflections are better than they seem in the image. The awful 'genuine' alligator strap had to go of course, and it's on a real alligator strap from one of the vietnamese ebay sellers. In fact, I bought 2 straps for it from him, both blue. One alligator and one python. The python one is thin enough to take the butterfly clasp the watch comes with, but the alligator one here is fully padded all the way along and thus too thick.

This is a slightly better pic. I like the watch a lot.

Here's the python strap:

And the silly one I did of it wrapped lovingly around one of the output tubes of one of my Leslie speaker amps...

The lume is very good, shines green almost as well as my Explorer II does blue so it glows when coming into a normally lit interior from outside. The AR is much better than it looks on those pics of mine when the watch isn't at an angle. But, as that very reasonable thread says, wabi sabi!

If you did mean 'loupe' ,as in viewed through one, then it's all very tidy.
If I had to fault it, then the gmt hand could do with a micro-smidge push round to line up perfectly on the hour, but it's really not noticeable.

Thanks for the mini review, great info to know about this lesser known piece. Oh by loupe I meant the date magnifier lol. I was just wondering if it was distorted at all when viewed directly.

Sorry! Fine viewed head on, distorts to the side which is I suppose what you'd expect given it's a half convex lens attached to the inside.

Yeah it's just the optics of the matter. My 243 HF V2 is also fine from head on, I just know some have complained of "sea sick" loupes in some of the other HF reps, as in they're distorted even from head on. Great to hear HF got it right on the 228 though at least!

PAM 224 H is an awesome watch. I ended up changing the strap for a vietnamese blue croco, but otherwise its a killer watch. Huge gen-like feel on that one. Its so awesome I am thinking abut getting the 228 and 229.
