Whats up guys! I'm super new to the rep game and watch lifestyle. Ive always been interested in nice watches and never honestly thought i would be able to afford them. Now i do really well for myself and make 6 figures. But, i still have that mindset of being scared to spend thousands on a watch so i cant come to terms with buying a real one right now. Maybe in the future i can justify spending 10k on a watch. But for now im willing to spend 500 on a nice replica that i can wear, be proud of and fits my lifestyle. Any advice would be welcomed and how to learn more. Im already watching all the videos and reading the threads but still learning alot of the terms. Currently im looking at a Rolex Datejust blue or maybe Wimbledon and maybe an AP royal oak. Ive been on r/reptime for a minute watching everyones purchases and I see the Datejust from BP seems very good quality for the money being in the 250 range for a rep. Just my thought again, any information is great!

Hi and welcome!
Don't miss the sticky threads in the new members area, that's the right place to start to learn how it works here and to get your first steps right.
My first rep was also a BP an oyster perpetual 38mm black dial, absolutely good value proposition imo. Also my second rep was a BP, an Explorer 1, same experience and my favourite watch overall. Before you make your buy, do some more research, learn the flaws of that particular model and see if you can live with them. Secondly, check out the movement and its pros/cons. Once you've done your assessment and decided you can very well live with BP, just give it a try. If you don't like it you can always resell in m2m (provided you meet the requirements, read the rules!) with minimal loss.
If you need anything, just shout out!
Good luck.

Hi, welcome. Like you I am fairly new. Long time lurker absorbing lots of information so should really start contributing more! As others have said, loads to learn with lots of great information shared by many. I am not sure on timeframes to Florida, but I have just received a new rep from one of the trusted dealers on the site and took just under 1 month.

Hi, I've just purchased a rep (my first), and I have so many questions swirling. So glad you have a no flaming section. So here goes. Can I wear these in public? Or do you just have them at home. Can I travel with it (will anyone stop me and fine me or confiscate it?). Has anyone ever had them confiscated at customs when travelling?

I would say YES to all these questions .

About 70% of the public don't even look at your watch.
The 30% that do, can appreciate it.
Out of that 30%, 5% really know the watch, and out of that 5%, about 5% would know if it's a replica.

And out of THAT group, the chances of them SAYING anything is slim.

That said, it's th Person who wear the watch and not the Watch itself.

I mean, if you're on an Outdoor event (wedding or such) with a lot of people, no way someone will Called you out wearing a NWBIG (Not Worth Buying in Gen) Rep (and there are a lot ) .

No way.

Definitely not allowed to confiscate or anything like that to anyone else it’s real for them. Should be no reason for you to need to take it off

I think it's definitely about how you wear them and what to a certain extent you choose to wear.

If you have never had a Swiss watch of any description below and go straight for a very limited £100k+ Patek because you love the look of it then that will definitely raise a few eyebrows among those who know you regardless of if they really know watches. For those who don't know you and just see it then the rules above apply, very few pay attention, of those only a very limited few are informed enough to even have an opinion on legitimacy.

If you carry yourself in a way that supports the watch then there is no reason for anyone to ever question it.

Congrats to your new watch! Agree with what’s been said. Also do think about the risk of getting robbed so use common sense when wearing it publicly.

Travel is no issue, but again - don’t go flashing it through the nothing to declare isle.
