I've been tinkering in reps for a while. I've dealt with Rollies, Omegas, and Tags. For years I couldn't understand the fascination with Pams, but recently a few of the Pam subs have caught my eye.

I'm looking to pick up an intro version for a daily workhorse. I've read and read through this forum to acquaint myself with the different models and which versions are the best. For the type of use or abuse this watch may see, I can't say I want to spend top dollar on the "best rep available". I will purchase a second one for that purpose...I know I want and L or H factory for that.

I've seen a number of 44mm and 47mm reps available in an "economy class" such as on Timeshop.

Do any of you Pam pros have any suggestions for a 243 or preferably 305 that may not be the super rep or near perfect accuracy, but a solid well built rep that will just work?

We usually prefer for daily workhorse the PAM 243 over the PAM 305 for some reasons:

- The size of 305 is 47mm, PAM 243 is more comfortable
- PAM 305 is made of Ti, lighter weight but very sensible to scratching for daily use
- The PAM 243 is more accurate

Threfore PAM 243 is the correct choice for you.

Okay, that makes sense. I liked the 305 due to the larger size, however I don't have any as large as 47mm. I can see where that may present a comfort issue.

So I suppose I am in the market for a PAM 243, actually 2 of them! One that will get hard use and one that will stay nice and get lighter duty. I will probably put a nice strap on that one.

Accuracy aside, if the L or H factory reps are the cream of the crop do you have a recommendation for a "lesser" version that is still a quality build?

I assume you are talking about manufacturers Noob factory and H maker

It makes no sense to buy the same watch for daily use and another to dress.
Submersible is a sporty watch and casual and some scratches are not bad. You have better buying another watch for dress like PAM 390 or PAM 111.

Concerning versions please read PAM GUIDE, all is explained there:

Buying 2 of them was a bit of humor. Thanks for your insight. I've read through that thread several times. I now know things about PAM reps that in don't even care to. lol That having been said, it's more of a debate on whether I want to spend highest quality rep money on a watch that will go through the rigors that it will.

It's a personal choice and something that we cannot make for you. But we certainly can give you the necessary information to help you make the right decision. ;)

If you are really brutal on your watches, maybe something with a simpler movement would be appropriate, the 6497 clone. My first rep was a PAM 112 fronm davidsen. I tend to be pretty hard on watches, but it still runs like a trooper 5 years later--and it's a beautiful watch for both dress and casual. My 243 is, however, my favourite at the moment, and has scratches on the bezel--as a sports watch will have.

I was looking at a few a21j versions of the 243. Anyone have any recommendations there? As I said earlier accuracy isn't as critical to me as overall quality. On a side note I am on the edge of pulling the trigger on a Noob 243 from Toro.

Don't spend money in cheap reps. It is a waste of money you will never be satisfied.
Buy just less but good quality replicas. Just an advice

Over the edge I went. I just initiated the order for the Noob 243.
