Did you use the search buttom? Seriously I'm just trying to save you time. There is a thread like this started almost every week and they all unfold the same way. Here's how it will go. Someone will say SOSF right off the bat. Then someone wil post a pic of a SOSF. That will be followed up by a BCE, then an SOH, a Navi followed by more pictures of the same watches on everything from rubber to chain mail. Once that is over you will then ask what the best color dial to get is which will bring another onslught of various pictures. Finally I will say something like they are all good reps so the best Bretling is the one you like. So what do you like?

to... make Fakey's point:

um... SOSF! Right off the bat!

Eitherway, I actually think SOSF IS the best Breit rep out of the box. Others are great but I don't like A7750s that much.

Anyone posting a Navi as the best Briet rep should not bother replying to these threads anyway. The factories still don't have the Navi right. I wisi they would!

Short answer. There are "as good as it gets" reps of the SOH, BCE and SOSF so take your pick. My choice would be the SOH from those three. The "lite" version with a 21J is only a cpl of hundred bucks for a near as perfect rep of a realy nice watch. But it on a bracelet and get a cpl of different straps for it and you have two or three watches in one. These look particualy nice on a Carbon Fiber strap and a gen buckle.

'Nuff said,

This is THE best Breitling out there, even gen owners say it's got the best quality bracelet they've seen. Faults? minute indices should be a hair shorter at 3, 6, 9, 12, some have rider tabs misaligned and crown is slightly less defined, all minutae though. It oozes quality, go for the graphite dial, it's the one the factories used to copy from.

SOSF is good too, I've got a white dialled A21j with no AR, but if you choose that coloured version, it isn't needed anyway. Shop around and you'll get one for just over a $100.

Regarding A7750 movements, I think to date no one's reported any faults with the BCE. Perhaps being an older rep they've missed the recent bad batch of movements... :)

Honestly mate i got my BCE in 2006 November by precioustime and i swear you it died the same week...LOL . That was the day when i decided i would never buy any more reps....till i got my last purchase from DAVID and it was a beautiful PAM111h ( WOW that watch have not given me any probs what so ever) perhaps its a maual winding movement. N e ways im not an expert when it comes to movements but these asian movements sorta always fail on me.....so i decided to convert my BCE to quartz have given it to good watchmaker....lets c what happens. Hopefully will get it fixed after 2 years now.

P.s: Yeah now im sucked back in again with this REP WORLD.....just ordering 2 HBB from puretime...hope they last longer....safe.

Sorry to hear about that Republic. Was your BCE a V1,with no tick at 10? I realise I'm generalising about recent trends in movement failures, obviously some baddies will slip the net, after all they're reps we're buying. Did you contact the dealer about the failure? Most, if not ALL on this board would definitely sort out a fault like you had with your watch. Why don't you go the whole hog and stick a gen ETA7750 in it?

True dat!! I'v told my watch guy to stick a GEN ETA and he has promised me that he will get it for me .... but if no option than i guess quartz....im not sure if it can work properly with this particular watch....

I did contact precioustime but at that time i was traveling alot due to work....so i just didnt bother sending it back.....im sure he would have helped me....n e ways i have my fingers crossed for my new 2 HBB by puretime....( u think i should ask for swiss movement from puretime?)....safe.

The chrono second hand post needs broaching (diameter made bigger) to fit if the rep movement was the newer hi-beat, the older lo-beat one (the one with the regulator that has a pointer) needs no mods to the hands, everything will swap over fine.
Personally I wouldn't pay the premium the dealers are asking for a gen Swiss ETA 7750, if anything goes wrong in the first six months they'll more than likely fix it anyway... :)

Here's one from my personal collection- although you should choose your dealer carefully; it may have to be sent back for 'tweaking'...
