I just order my first PAM from D4M. Now that I put my toe in the PAM pond I was wondering if it pays to upgrade strap and start messing with this level of Rep? As a noobie I feel the urge to expand the addiction . Are there any "darksiders "out there who want to push me over the brink? Or "men of light" to hold me back?

Hmmm... Good question. I asked myself the same question when I first started out.

At what degree of mod will it satisfies you? If you are the nitpicking type then even the best mod done will not do the trick and before you know it, alot of money will spent on mods.

IMO, sandwiched dial with H serial movt PAM reps are not worth modding because the heavy blue AR, incorrect engraving font on the movt and the oversized " L swiss made L" are the biggest call out that can never be fixed no matter how you mod it.

Treat the 111H as an entry level pam. If your liking towards PAM remains after a few weeks, what I suggest to you is to read more and do find the model you really like, sell the 11H and buy the model you really like. otherwise, If you identify that the 111H is the only grail you like most, by all means go for the mods as it has been justified.

If you want the pam rep to be 95% close to the gen, check out older pam models like PAM01B, 02B with sausage dial and closed caseback. With the correct mods done, these are really the models that are hard to be called out by untrained eyes.

Here's an example of a gen PAM01B

And the pic of a fully modded rep PAM01B

Hope the above info helps :)

If that didn't open the flood gates to the PAM pushers I don't know what will. :D Did you get the starter 111H for 100.00?

I'm afraid there is no hope for you now. I started with the exact same model from D4M
and now have ten Pams with more on the way, and about twenty different straps.
The watch you have is a great entry level pam, get a good strap and it'll last you for ages.

OK friends just just a little taste of cocaine...so it begins....PAM addiction seems to be rampent here.
I did pay $100.00 for the 111H.
I read as much as I could with these old eyes...and felt this is a good first buy.
What bands would you all suggest?
My addictive ways...bought and sold numerous golf clubs since I began playing six years ago...will carry over to Reps.

panatime.com offers the best straps for the beginner and intermediate alike. That is to say, for a mass produced strap. There are dozens of hand made dealers and one of the best is Tootall in the accesories section. All the dealers here are phenomenal. True Paneristi's go for the hand made custom stuff. I am merely a beginner myself.

The strap I bought is here. http://www.panatime.com/24dabrndeoiw1.html
