well i finally found a dark blue strap for my blue navi. i didn't know if i would like the strap on it so i didn't want to buy a gen. i really love the ss bracelet and i just wanted to try one. i couldn't find the dark blue and i was afraid of buying one that replicated the exact look of a gen because i knew it wouldn't be exactly the same.

andrew did a killer review between the gen strap and a bob strap and while the bob strap was great it just wasn't quite their as far as overall quality and materials. i thought if i could find a nice exotic skin of some kind i wouldn't be trying to convince anybody it was a gen strap so the very small differences wouldn't matter as long as the quality was good and the look was nice.

andrew's review.

after allot of searching i finally found the very dark blue ostrich skin that was really nice. the color was right and the thickness was good, a constant 2.5mm at the edges and roughly 6.3mm in the middle at the lugs. i don't know what the gen measures. maybe somebody with a gen can measure it for us.

for 31.00 i like it very much and the quality is good.

my pictures suck but i hope you can at least get a good feel for how this strap looks. it looks great in person the leather is very nice.

the buckle appears to be the same as bobs and it is very smooth around the edges and easy on the strap. i want to get a gen 20mm buckle for it but as nice as this one is i am in no hurry.

enjoy. 8)

I have this strap in black and its quite nice quality. I also have the new rep strap that I got with my BCE. The rep strap is a good bit thicker, but the stitching and overall finish is 1000 times better on the watchband strap.

does anybody know the thickness of the gen strap at the edges and in the center at the lugs? i measured this one with a micrometer. i am very happy with it. at least with it being a exotic skin it doesn't look like you are trying to exactly replicate the gen. for the price you can't beat it and those people were good to do business with.

with the padding it will be much thicker though. that's without the padding.

so it is 4mm at the edges? it didn't look that much thicker at the edges from the bob strap in andrews pictures. i am assuming it is also 2.5. i could tell it was thicker but i didn't think it looked another 1.5. in that case i am really glad i didn't buy a bob strap trying to make it look like a genuine breitling strap. i think it would be easy to see that much difference in person.

You are right. 4mm at the edge without the padding. The strap is tapered down in thickness at the part where there are strap holes.

Very nice hk45ca. I think sometimes we become obsessed with trying to capture that "gen" look, and we lose sight of how much fun changing up a strap can be. Look at how much fun we have with our Pams, and the straps that we put on them even though they are nothing like the gen straps from Panreai.

You've got yourself a beautiful combination there!
