So I got this PAM187 last month from Hont (bottom 4 shots). The watch is everything I expected (even has decent lume without mods) but I hated the rubber strap that came with it. I saw a Europelli strap in a Bomber Jacket leather that Bazz picked up. Well, tough luck because Bazz got the last of it. So, I had Gunny do some custom work to try to match it. Close, but no cigar IMO.

I really like the Gunny thickness because this is a BAW and it needs some beef on the strap. But, I think there's no substitute for years of wear on a real bomber jacket. I'm afraid that I can't shoot a watch like Bazz, and even Peter Gunny can't clone a bomber jacket. I'll let you decide.

First, here's Bazz's Bomber:

And here's my Gunny bomber clone:

very nice! that is one thick strap!! just a thought but maybe giving it a light rub with a wire brush and then putting abit of brown shoe polish on it might age it some more? (just a thought from a newbie) :)

I've got one of those thick (6mm+) Gunny straps as well, currently on my Fiddy. It's really thick but soft as butter and doesn't look that fat when on the wrist. At least it does't feel that fat, it's really comfortable... :D

I hadn't thought of that but it might be worth a try. I'm getting a new strap for a DSN right now, then I think I'll buy another for this 187. When that comes in I may give your method a try because I really don't like how this turned out. Darker and more aged would be better. Might try a Dremel. Thanks.

I like that Pre-V a lot better than my flat bottom sewn-in!

think there is a post on here on how to age a strap by submersing it in an oxidising solution (not 100% sure)? seems to work well too. I think the dremel maybe abit too harsh though. A good rub with a wire brush then abit of shoe polish or leather conditioner should do the trick. good luck buddy, keep us posted on how it goes :)

I was kidding about the Dremel. Really I was. I'll look into a wire brush (or perhaps a sandpaper), but I haven't found a thing on the Forum on how to age a strap. Maybe I'm just an idiot but I can't get any search results on it where normally I can find anything on RWI. Sounds interesting, though, as what I want is a deeper brown and none of that light tan colour. Gunny sure does makes a nice strap. If I had a Fiddy, I'd seriously look at that beast you have. Thanx again.

I don't think it came out too bad but if your not 100% happy with it you should have a go at ageing it.

BTW you have great taste!
