Just received my new pam029 in the mail today. It looks great! The 44 is a lot bigger than I expected. Anyway, I picked it up from the PO on my lunch break and headed back to work, thats the place where I sit at my desk and stare at my wrist. Like I said, the thing looks awsome, but after a half an hour of starring at it I noticed there was something missing, I must have just over-looked it in my excitement. There is no cyclops! I had to hop on the boards for pics to make sure I wasn't going crazy, since Ive been starring at these pictures for a week. I heard of a week magnification but my date is tiny!

I contacted the dealer, who is known for making things right, and just waiting for a reply. Aside from sending it back for 20-30 bucks, which is a third of the cost (21j) what are some other options, besides "dealing with it?" If he sends me a new crystal, how hard is it to replace...removing the insides...putting it back together..., is the bezel removable on the 029?

Any comments or ideas from anyone while Im waiting for a reply would be great.

Not looking for any real answers just yet, just thought I would share my experience so far.

Sadly I found that the cost of having it fixed by a local watchsmith is much more then the cost of shipping it back. Unless you feel confident about doing the swap yourself, you should send it back.

you can get a more accurate cyclops from chieftang on rwg... and then contact vac to see how much it would be to have it installed...

or just contact vac to see how much crystal switch would be...

If Im not mistaken, doesnt the 029 have a cyclops on the inside of the crystal not on the top?

Update (for anyone who cares)

My dealer said he will send me a new replacement crystal.

Now, obviously my question is... how is the crystal attached to the case? I have read Edge's "how to dismantle a sub" and it looks like if I get the case apart, movement/dial out, the crystal can just pop out. Is this the case for PAMs as well?

Are there any "how to strip down a PAM?" without alcohol? or is Edge's walkthrough pretty universal.

Thanks
