Hey guys so i bought a PAM Ferreti 247 with a 6497 movement.
Every few hours the second hand stops moving and the watch stops.. but when i try winding the watch the wheel kicks back like 1/6th the distance.. i don't know what is wrong. I know you are suppose to wind about 30 times but every time i try to wind it kicks/springs back down...why is that?
It starts moving again when i pull the wheel out and change/reset the time but then later stops again.
can anyone help me figure out if im making some noob mistake or there is something really wrong

Sounds like it is fully wound and and something is jamming it.Are the hands clear of each other and clear of the dial and crystal? Possibly the stem is unscrewing out of the crown making it too long. Other than that, it would be in the movement itself where the problem lies. Good luck!

Sounds like the click is missing, not always engaging.

even when the hands are far apart and not touching it happens so i don't think the hands are jamming against each other or the crystal..

One question, is the watch fully wound, in other words you can no longer wind it, it has hit the limit where there is stop tension. My interpretation of what you are saying is that the crown spins back in the reverse direction to how you wind it is this correct? If the watch is fully wound and you feel tension then don't try to wind it any more, check that the hands are clear of each other and that the second hand isn't scraping the dial, otherwise read below if it is a click problem.

When I said missing I didn't mean it is not there just not engaging the ratchet wheel. In order to know more you need to open the case and see. The click is held down by one screw and it has a small spring underneath it. If that is the problem it should be pretty apparent when you open the case and should be an easy fix. Click spring might have lost is spring tension or it could be something more, but you have to start somewhere. Now this only addresses the crown spring back, if it is stopping when fully wound that is a whole other problem, unless the click not engaging is letting the barrel run down.

ok thank you so much for the info. quick update:
I just noticed that everytime it stops if I shake the watch in my hand hard it starts working again or if I turn the crown just a little to set the time it starts moving again.. im located in CONUS, anyone who can fix this problem?? im new to reps so I wouldn't be able to do anything myself

If you meant that every time u let go of the crown while winding, the crown spin back a little, that is NORMAL.

I got a friend who got his first pam and thought there are some problem, but no, its normal for 6497 movement.
