I'm new to this and am going to start trying to build a watch from Aliexpress parts to start. My question is: do new movements normally come with a plastic holder? I see them in the photos, but the movement that actually arrived didn't have one. It's an nh34. Does anyone know where I can buy just a holder?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the movement has one of those around its edge. I am really new to this. I just built a watch from DIY Watch Club and the movement holder in that kit/for its movement was separate and seemed larger. I thought that maybe I am missing a piece, but it sounds like I'm not. I'll see if this movement fits correctly into the case I bought

Great to see another one starting the modding hobby 🤗

Post the article link of the case you bought and also pics of the movement and of the case

The more you are specific the better we can help

I'll post some photos when I get back to this , but I realized that I neglected to order a chapter ring. :) I imagine that'll solve my 'issue'.

So I got a chapter ring and, after damaging the first movement in the little vise/holder, I got another movement and got this thing together.

I had first put a set of snowflake hands on it, but swapped them out for the current ones. Happy that I didn't mangle anything during the fifteen attempts it took me to get the second hand on. What a great way to practice having patience.

And now that I've finished this one, I see what others have said about these watches appearing to be tall, or deep. Are there different parts that will mitigate this, or is it a function of the NH movements/dial sizes/available cases?

This case is a SKX007/SRPD / CT707A from Crystaltimes.
