and absolutely loving my eddie lee "best" PAM 243 1000m 1950 sub...except that after all, it is a rep and has its (very few, and imo, very minor in this case) flaws...heck, i bought two of them!!!!

i was wondering if mr. davidsen could source some sub cases without ar coating, but with sapphire crystal (243, perhaps, but no date cyclops) and do some of his magic with an unbranded (maybe "marina militare" marking only...how about engraved!) dial and some vintage (RXW) style gold hands.

maybe even a brown dial????

SWEETNESS!!! I'd pay $400 easy for such a watch. I think it would arguably be nicer than any sub panerai now produces or ever produced! And totally unique - not a rep.

And to top it all off, how about a "Dark Side" engraving on the case back?

Yes, pretty sweet, although the original (GPF 2/56) which was made for the egyptisn navy around 1954, was a whopping 60mm!! Whose got big enough wrists for that?

i like the design of the watch, but at over 52mm, i think it would only look good strapped to my thigh...or hung around my neck a la flava flav: http://bl.net/work/studiopix/flava.jpg
