New Marine rep on Sead's telegram

After waiting for literally years for a Marine re-release @sead1999 has come to the rescue with this. At the moment only available in black, which is probably good given the blue of previous releases. For me, it looks good. Buckle is a bit shit but that's not a deal breaker.

HGF factory , 12mm thickness , also available at chazingtime. However there is quite a big tell on this watch : the serial number 5222 changes for each gen watch produced but for all the reps , it is this exact one

The black looks good and the thickness is close to gen.

I would like to get a blue but the HGF's blue is awful. Hope there will be a better release.

It's an HGF of course, but it is really spot on...i think that the SS version of the Marine (from HGF) is nearly NWBIG, 12 mm thickness vs 11.85 mm thickness of the Gen.

Yes, i ' m starting to think that some mistake from factories HAS to be intentional...i mean, it is SO good as a Rep, and than this incredible oversight..

I think the only thing is the date wheel switching over isnt gen like

So i have mainly 3 issues with this watch:

1. There is some white substance in the dial between the first 2 and second 2, which u can see in the third qc pic. Probs easy fix

2. The rotor doesnt move that freely. That said, you have to wind it manually most of the time. Also probably an easy fix, maybe needs some oil.

3. The indicies arent properly aligned. U can see it on qc, some are slightly on the bottom side while some are on the top side.

Ill take it to my watchmaker soon and try to fix these then probably list on m2m next month or so.

But overall im surprised that there is a rep for this watch at all which is also better quality than ive thought.
Bought this just to look if gen would fit me
(This watch is 39mm but has huge lug to lug)
so didnt really care about quality too much.

@memox : the #2 issue seems the worst offender, glad you will do a complete service for the Marine !

Mine is perfect since i bought it, no noisy rotor at all,great quality of the dial....maybe it is some unfortunate coincidnce if the rotor of your doesn't move freely ?

Anyway, it is cool that the Marine 5817 was repped in the first place...beacause also Breguet, like SO many other brands, has new released that in my humble opniino are worse than the previous.

I mean, the 'new' Marine (released in 2021 ) , the 5517, is not a bad watch at all, but in my opinion is below the 5817.
It is more bland, less Breguet.

The new Marine 5517 is a big step backwards.

@memox is correct, the lug to lug size of most Breguet watches are large because of their lug designs. That is one of the reason why I have yet to pick up a pre-owned Marine given how attractive such are priced now.

Have to agree, especially the ti version where the dial feels empty.

But the white gold Chrono version does look veeery good imo.
