Well done! David's was my first rep--a 112. I didn't even know about Panerai when I found RWI and was on the lookout for the ubiquitous Rolex or something with a name I recognized. Be careful, my friend. Panerais get under your skin...... Davidsen is good to work with because though he has the usual quality control issues (why, oh why.....????), he will always make good on any problem. My only advice on dealing with him is to keep your language as simple as possible.

trawl through the Panerai section and you'll see a couple of pics of my 127 which I received last week. The entry is labelled 'my new DSN fiddy'. It's about on page 2 by now. I bought it along with a DSN 360. Both are stunning, though I'm still unsure whether I'm manly enough to wear that Fiddy. That's one big watch! Presently going through the strap-sellers for appropriate straps for both. That's one thing about the Panerais: the rep. straps just aren't good enough. You MUST spend the money and get a good quality leather strap because it absolutely makes the watch pop. The simpler the watch, the more it is aesthetically destroyed by its weakest link--such as a cheap strap. Take a Breitling Navitimer or something like that. It's so busy it wouldn't matter what strap you'd put on at and it would always look vulgar ;)

nielsen, i just picked up a fiddy (shipped today!) and I've been looking for a good strap for it. Any recommendations? (I know, I know...who's got the best sub, right?;) )

Usually I like to do a lot more research before I pull the trigger; this was definitely an impulse purchase. It's my first Panerai, so I know ZIP about them. Been trolling, looking for straps to go with it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Will

I'm struggling to come up with a strap myself for my Fiddy so I'm not a good person to ask. I'm leaning toward something from Gunny--perhaps the one he offers that most closely copies the original. This guy too has caught my eye--but ammo straps are a bit pricey http://straps66.blogspot.com/ I've bought three from Savage and each is a stunner. Ted Su also has some beautiful stuff. I really do think you must get a good quality strap for the Fiddy--and any simple PAM. You won't regret it! I'll be curious to hear what you settle on.

I strongly suggest you visit:

http://www.steveostraps.com/

I bought a fantastic strap from him. His service is second to none and the strap is soft, flexible and beautifully stitched. All his straps are custom made and are only £23 including delivery. I was amazed at the quality for the price. You can mix and match leather, stitching and strap style and he'll knock one out for you within days.

This might sound like a big plug (it's not me honest!) but I don't think I've bought anything that's been such good value or looked so good.

Awesome, guys! Thanks for the tips. Gunny appears to be at the top of the heap. Am definitely perusing his stuff with interest.

On a related note, would it ever be appropriate to put a fiddy on the "Officine Panerai" rubber strap (cringe)?

Edit: Just came across the "Pilot" strap at Steve-O's. Woot!

I have the gunny Caitlin 2 on my fiddy. It's amazing. Btw, how much did it cost you?
