Hi All - sharing some photos of a new piece that just landed on my desk from the man @Natas78
Started off as a stock Arktos sub that I wanted to age. I liked the arktos because of the compass points on the bezel and thought it would look cool vintagised.
Originally wanted to do some of that custom verdigris dial age that Nate does so well (I have another piece with that style ageing) - but then I saw some of the work that Nate did on his sunburst blue dials for a depth gauge and decided to switch to that. The blue colour darkens from the centre out and seems to change colour in different lighting conditions.
Other work done includes:
- brass coating for head and buckle
- machining to accept thicker dial
- coin edge (I love it)
- custom dial and lume (bright!)
- dismantle, clean, regulate and reassemble
It's mounted on a exotic dark brown hand made Spanish bull shrunken leather strap with kangaroo leather backing from @Phillyrock. Not just any old bull...
I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Overall was a great experience working with Nate and I already have another special custom piece in the works with him! Watch this space it's gonna be great.
