New bracelet? Loctite the screws?

Hi guys,
I am soon getting a new steel bracelet for an omega seamaster 300. Since I am mainly used to leather straps, I have no experience about steel bracelets. I heard that the screws in some bracelets are very loose when delivered and that some screws can get lost if not glued in with loctite.
Do I have to fix the screws with loctite on a new steel bracelet in general or is it not necessary? What do you think?

Thank you very much for your feedback!

Modern bracelets from recognised factories are very well made. It is good practise to loctite the screws into position and periodically inspect them (to ensure they haven’t worked loose). I do this for both gens and Rep.

When delivered the screws can actually be VERY right to remove.

You might want to soak the bracelet in a cup of boiling water before attempting to remove screws (this will help “dissolve” the factory loctite) and help prevent damaging the screw heads during removal.

Thank you the feedback. I got some "medium tight" loctite at home, but never used it. Do I just have to put it on the screw and wind it in to tighten it and thats it? Or do I have to take care of something else?

Just don't use the heavy duty stuff! If you use one one studlok or super retaining compound you will never get a screw out again.

I loctite all my bracelets with the purple 222 which is the weakest available and actually designed to be a threadlock, blue or red might be impossible to remove without heat.

I’d recommend stripping the bracelet down and putting the whole lot in an ultrasonic bath of hot water and detergent before reassembling with loctite and then lubricating with baby oil - this will malarkey it super smooth and comfortable.

I got the medium one

Medium is fine. Make sure you have a good screw driver that fits properly, that is important.

I agree with what Alex said above. Clean your bracelet in an ultrasonic cleaner to get the grime out and loosen the screws. Let it dry and the screws too, make sure they are clean and dry. Then put a tiny dab on the female end before you screw them in. Make sure you know how you want to size it before you use loctite. Let it dry over night.

That’s it, I don’t agree with putting oil on it. I think oil is useful to soak the bracelet if you don’t have an ultrasonic cleaner. But it’s abitch to clean off afterwards and does not work as effectively as an ultrasonic
