I believe its a tad to large. The "L" in LUMINOR should fall right below the 11 marker

After taking a closer look, it does look a tad too big. The P should line up just over 7 marker and I just over the 5. To me it is indeed beautiful and I wouldnt even no if the gen wasnt posted.

Nice Work

The cut out of the hour markers and the numerals seem a little too bold.

I'd say the numbers and hour markers do look just a titch too bold, but it could be the pictures.

The dial writing could be a titch smaller and line up as noted.

Overall, I'd say this is the best attempt and damn close! We are really nit-picking now.....

I'm getting excited as I can already see a 111 on my wrist in '07!

RQ, I think your lines need to go from the mid-point of those markers, not the inside? Could just be the angle of that gen pic Relaxman posted...

I hope you don't mind, I used one of your dial designs to start with, then adjusted the numerals, slightly shortened the painted markers around the sub seconds, changed the bottom of the dial to read 'L SWISS MADE L', changed the Panerai font width to try to make it more accurate (I think I used Helvetica at 145% width). The positioning is done by eye, using the markers and numerals as a reference (as suggested further up in the topic), so hopefully it looks roughly correct. Hopefully somebody else will be able to suggest further improvements.

Shouldn't the text be an off white color?? Also the cutouts are wrong. Take a look at the cutouts around the sub-dial on the left. On the gen they are longer and narrower, plus all the numbers all around look a little off. Take this as encouragement, you are almost there Davidson, Once you got it you got it!

Good work 'rmcsherry', you really hit the nail on the head.

David,
as other suggested:

- hour indices and numerals are now tad wider than they should be

- 'LUMINOR MARINA' & 'PANERAI' text is too wide, check the first and the last letter's relative position to 11 and 1 o'clock markers on a gen

- 5-min bar markers on the seconds subdial are longer then they should be, also the 4 cutouts on the subdial are too wide

- font and style of 'L Swiss Made L' is not right, best to compare it to gen's

- while you're at it, could you change dial text color to cream instead of white...H-series Base and Marinas (excluding 000 and 005) come with cream color text

..my 2 cents :)

cheers

Revised version taking on board Babola's suggestions; corrected 'L Swiss Made L' font, cream font colour, sub-dial redrawn using a photo of a gen as reference, numerals tidied up and compared to gen (whilst they are all now thinner than Davidsen's original dial, only the number 3 was seriously out - the 'tail' on it was too short). Any further suggestions will help - then we can get a step closer to the perfect rep!

Davidsen, excuse my ignorance, but what program do you use to make the dials? Also, what cutting / printing methods do you use - if we know this, some of the computer-literate members of the community may be able to give a helping hand (for example, I've got 5 perfect dials for projects I'm working on in dxf format awaiting someone who can produce them for me).

EDIT: Forgot to post the image!

The "sticks" for sub-seconds markers look too long and the cut-outs on the sub look too short. They look like they are the same length on the gen.

But it gets better every round.

Well,

The logos markings are too big indeed.

It seems that my dial supplier has misundstood our request again.

I have to send back and ask him re make this dial until it is acceptable by most of you.

It happens all the times that suppliers do not make our order 100% up to our
specs.

Thank you for all your feedbacks adn suggestions. Some Some pics are very usful indeed.
I am sending soem of them to him to copy.

Wil show you my new dial again once it is re made again.

Thank you
