So I've been in the Rep scene for 7 months now, and have a nice little collection of Tudors. However, lately I've been getting the itch to sell and make a go at a used Gen, and one in particular.

I've seen some red Tudor rose black bays on leather straps go in the $2100-$2300 USD range, and am really considering going for it. Unfortunately, I'm not in a huge cash position and have a young family, so it would mean selling a good portion of my entire collection plus some cash. Here's what I have today:

So here's the deal. Tell me to go all in and sell or say I'm crazy, and let me know why. And are there some from my collection I shouldn't sell regardless? The skeleton absolutely can't go, as it was a gift from my wife, and I really really love the newly acquired sarb035. Ugh, I'm torn. I'm still on the fence overall, and would love other's perspectives.

Thanks all!

Do whatever will make you happiest.

I guess it comes down to weighing up what would you rather more. A genuine BB Red Rose or the reps and money.

Personally if I was in your situation I'd keep the reps and money. The ZF Black bays are very accurate and I don't think it's worth paying approximately $2000 just to fix a couple of tiny flaws & slightly better build quality. That's only my personal opinion though.

Another option, do you like the shield version? As far as I am aware the red shield version is basically 1:1 visually/externally. Could always sell your rose version, and then spend relatively almost nothing extra buying a shield version. Buying a gen of the shield edition would be like paying at least $2000 more for just a slightly smoother movement & slightly better build quality. Crazy IMO.

Personally, I have fallen in love with the Tudors. I want to get a real GMT at some point in the next year or so, just so I have something to hand down to the kids in 50 years or something! I would happily take one or two of the replica Tudors off your hands (I like the Pelagos!) if that helps.

Like Camblin said, spending 2K$ for a gen for fix a little flaw that none of the regular peeps won't notice...
Better to stick with rep and enjoy it.
But if you want a GMT, yeah, you need it as gen because ICHS is annoying (that's why I didn't bought the GMT).

Appreciate the feedback, and totally great point about the money. And wouldn't you know, I'm a crazy person and have decided that apparently the gen thing is the way I am going! You raise a really good point about the shield red bezel though. I had a rep black bezel version and the watch was fantastic. I've sold them now, but think I will pick up a rep shield black bay as soon as I can afford it after I save enough for the ETA.

Thanks mate, and sorry that I never got back to you earlier when I posted them for sale. I would also love to have something for my son or daughter to pass to them as well, especially if either of them became interested in watches as a hobby! I am officially saving for the Black Bay ETA! I will put up a post as soon as I finally achieve it!

Hahah so true, and the exact same reason I never bought the GMT rep. That, and those modified gears for the gmt hand are outrageously unreliable! I'm know I'm crazy, but I'm goin for the ETA. Perhaps one day I can even save for a GMT, but personally I am waiting for Tudor to release a 58 model in GMT. Now THAT will be work the purchase!

Yes, a gmt in a BB 58 case would be perfect!
Totally agree with the OP, Tudor reps are awesome and super close to gen.
