Need Pam expert about tube + crown

Hi guys,

I almost have my first Panerai completed but i have a little problem with the tube & crown. The fact is the crown sits too far from the case (see pic)

In fact it's the tube wich is too long (crown & cg waiting to be replaced). So here is my question: is it possible to sand down a little bit the tube in order to have the crown closer to the case ? does anybody allready done that ? the crown will be as maintained as before ?

Are you certain that the tube is too long? Could be the stem that is too long.

Where did the watch come from? Personally, I would send this to vaccum and have him give it a look/diagnosis. Might as well upgrade the crown while you're at it. Either a t48 or one from opcrown/palp.

Thanks hooligan, in fact i allready have an opcrown waiting & i put it on the tube without the stem (with the same conclusion: too far from the case), that's why i came to the conclusion that it was the tube who is too long

For Vac i know he's probably the best but just the thought of sending it overseas, waiting time etc.. no way ^^

What about sending it to Domi? He's in the EU. Not sure who else is in Europe to do the work....

A standard rep tube ought to do the trick, no?

To be honest i have my personnal watchsmith & friend like 10 miles from my home who is a member here. He hesitated on the fact to sand down the tube so i said i will check here if it's doable.

I make the announcement (we never know) if someone has a "short tube" and is willing to sell/ send to me... PM ^^

But yeah a standard rep tube will do it, it means that i don't have one like this... weird

Very weird. Maybe grab one of Robert's crown/tube setups and see if that works? For $30, it's worth a shot, yeah?

Yep i saw them, true that 30$ is not a big risk. I think i will try to sand down the tube anyway, and if the crown is not well maintained anymore i will order from Robert...I can wait a little bit longer to have my 1st pam the way i want

It's all down hill from there. I have one of FGD's Pre-A 001/004 dials on the way for a project watch. Woot!
