I'm still a Panerai newbie, so I am a little overwhelmed by the number of models.

I'm looking for:

-a black model
-preferably left hand (flexible on this)
-preferably clear caseback (somewhat flexible on this)
-preferably an automatic (flexible on this)
-superlume

Accuracy of the model is very important to me. Any suggestions?

Also, Is the superlume brighter than the genuine lume, or is it just the brightness that it should be?

-a black model

Do you mean the case?? If so , 026K (destro) or 292 if you like Radiomir. Or go for a DSN 360..
If you just mean the black dial.. Most of them have black dial....

-preferably left hand (flexible on this)

026K is for left handed (to wear on right wrist I mean)..
But if you mean to wear on left wrist, most of them are made for left wrists...

-preferably clear caseback (somewhat flexible on this)

Well... 111, 176 Ti , 177 Ti ... etc... Are clear caseback... BTW I think all black PAMS have close caseback.

-preferably an automatic (flexible on this)

All watches I said above are manual hand winding... If you like automatic then you can go for a flyback 212 or 253... or 312, 328 , 359... Al of them SS case but all of them clear caseback. Or Radiomir 288K which is awesome!! But no clear caseback...

-superlume

All models I said above are superlumed (unless PAM 359).

Accuracy of the model is very important to me. Any suggestions?

005M, 111M, 026K, 292M, 288K...

Also, Is the superlume brighter than the genuine lume, or is it just the brightness that it should be?

Recent PAMs reps have the best lume you can find to the date. No brighter than the GEN but ok.

 Wow, Im a little overwhelmed. This is going to be tough to figure out which one meets all my requirements, if any.. I meant left wrist, which is harder to find. Eeep

You can always DLC a 219 if you want a clear caseback, but that's expensive ...

That 26k looks great, do you think this is a fair price? ($268) http://www.puretimewatch.com/product/pam026k-lefty-dlc-11-ultimate-edition-on-leather-strap/

Is there anything just like this but with a clear case back?

Yes, it's a fair price of a trusted dealer. Has no clear caseback and it's not automatic... But it´s a lefty and black (dlc) case. Superlumed an accurate.

Maybe you have to "capecod" it to get the tone more close to the gen.. But I don't really know in person how the colour looks before and after Capecod it...

What is capecod? Is the PVD on the reps not the right color??

DLC is like PVD but not the same.

Capecod is like a make-up clean towel but used for polishing SS cases and bracelets (and any SS thin you want to polish...).. but used with the DLC case of the 026K it get different appareance...

Capecod cloth is, for lack of a better description, like very fine sand paper. It can polish a stainless surface by removing the small scratches.
On a black coated case it can dull the finish and make it a bit more "gunmetal" in color.
PVD and DLC are 2 different methods of coating a stainless case with black "paint". Both make the coloring adhere and wear well.

Welcome! i was in your shoes barely 2 months ago, so i'll answer to the best of my knowledge.

The only lefties with clear caseback are not black models. They're the 217 and 219.

Only black model is 026k.

The only auto lefty is a 123, not black either.

Superlume and accuracy pretty much go hand in hand, so i'll answer them together.

219 and 026 are accurate reps straight out of the box, for a reasonable price. There are accurate 217's but come at a higher price, and 217's are 47mm instead of 44mm like the rest i mentioned.

Since you were flexible on everything except 'black model', i would say a 026k suits you best.

If you remove the 'lefty' requirement, then all bets are off and be prepared to be very overwhelmed. :biglaugh:
