Hi
have a seiko BM I got for a great price (black one), and my cheap blue plastic watch pin tool isn't able to remove one link on the bracelet. Not sure if someone used locktite on it. So my questions are
1) Will the watch pin pliers (pictured) work better? I'll need to buy one, but the price is the same as what the local jeweler said they'd charge me to do it ($15)
2) if it doesn't work, any other suggestions? Don't have a propane torch and don't know if I did, if it's OK to heat the bracelet link

thanks!

The best tools to do the job are the simplest: a set of punches and a watchmaker's hammer. :)

Hey Guys
thanks a ton for the link. Yeah. So it appears I didn't know about the collars for the pins, which explains why 2 are loose. Crud.
However, i just gotta find the right tool to get the one stuck pin out.

Regarding the collars, I have some spare lins from my other monster (yes, I have 3 now, orange w NATO that I swapped with a SS bracelet for the winter, Black w/ rubber (for tennis), black with a 2nd SS bracelet since it looks badass with those huge stick markers that glow. The nice thing is, noone on this forum is saying "Three of the same watches!? Is he nuts?!"
They're either saying
a) Yeah, I got the same setup or
b) Wow. I need to get them too.
(or at least applying that approach to your favorite watch).

I agree the lume is awesome. Seiko has a wonderful lume formula. Here is a photo of the lume on my black monster taken this morning:

My daily beater is an Orange Monster, you just can't kill them.
I'd love a blue and a green to go with it.

Yeah yeah, I'll put a dab of lume back in the pearl hole one day :)

Hey Guys

However, i just gotta find the right tool to get the one stuck pin out.

.

The reason most have problems getting pins out ( whether they are this style or the standard ones) is that no thought is given to where the pin is coming out too.!!
Make sure the bracelet hasn't skewed off and the pin coming out is hitting a face not a hole.
I actually modify all my pin presses to allow a larger area for the pin to travel into.

I did have it lined up correctly, but the thing is stuck. Just ordered a pin pusher/hammer setup as suggested above. The watch sits correctly, but there are 3 links on one side and 6 on the other, so the clasp hits the bone on my wrist (distal radius if anyone cares), and that's just annoying. So, once I get that pin out, i'll balance it, and replace the other pins with the extras i happen to have that DO have the collar (they are TINY), and hopefully, all will be set.
Thanks again for the input guys.

The pin set Wiz posted is the best. I used the cheap blue plastic clamp type on three monsters so far, and I only had problems with one. It bent the end of the tool's pin and made a loud popping, but didn't hurt the bracelet.

I never realized the lume on those was that powerful.

Yeah, i was in a conference room, they dropped the lights to show a slide, and my watch was all lit up. It was kinda cool. If you're out all day, it is readable all night. Now, when I drive at night and my other watches aren't visible, I'm disappointed. Thinking of getting my Rollie GMTII lumed now.

Wanted to share a photo of my new Seiko daily beater, it's a SNZH57, which has a style evocative of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, and indeed, the current craze is to do a dial mod to make it Fifty Fathoms homage.

No one usually comments my watches except my gf. The only one that did in the past year or so was my doctor. She walked into the x-ray room, saw my orange monster's lume and said " Wow that's a nice watch; it's so bright!". It felt pretty good.

Be pepared to shell out big bucks if you want a blue one (never seen a green) they are only available as a Limited Edition.

The green Monster is rare, I think.

As I recall, an RWI staff member bought one but didn't bond with it.

He applied it as a raffle prize so the forum could raise a few dollars.

Hell yes Sub, I doubt there is a brighter watch anywhere.

Na, it was bought especially as a raffle prize, otherwise I would have bought it off Taka.

Damnit! That post of Reto's shows a yellow one :frusty:
Now I'm up for yet one more. That guy costs me a fortune in Seiko and Citizen watches.
