Quick question, of my Calibre 36 has a crooked 12 o clock hour marker on the dial and when I went to my watchsmith, he said that if he was to try to reposition the hour marker, some of the paint on the dial might come off due to the glue. Are there any truth to this? Or it should be easily doable without damaging the dial? If it is doable, what are the necessary steps required to do the repair?

Here is a picture to help you get an idea of what I'm talking about:

Its the silver marker that looks like its glued to the dial.

Thanks!

Unless you find someone that has done this I don't see how there is any way to know if the paint will come off. My guess would be that it is unlikely to pull of any paint unless the dial is very poorly made. The markers usually have small alignment pins that fit into tiny holes in the dial. Those might need to be filed off and then it will be very hard to align the marker properly. I've glued markers on and it is not easy to do it right.
