very nice and fast reference gallery.
I think it is outdated by a couple of years or has some navigation problem since there is no PAM over the 199 mark... No 217 for example.

PS: Look at the 077.. Is that a rep? ;) It gets my vote for worst design of the whole lineup. That and those hunter cases.. :?

Is it just me... Panerai makes too many watches. It's like there trying to make one watch of every flavor. They've got to focus (or identify what their focus is...)

They have focussed. They make a limited run, change styles, another limited run, change styles ... ad infinitum. They sell most watches they make and those that don't sell aren't a huge loss because they're ... a limited run!

As our wise friend Puggy says that's how they do it..........great marketing strategy and keeps the secong hand values nice and high too. The choice is this or the Rolex strategy of making watches that look dated and worn by old men and wannabees.

Panerai.......the watch to be seen in.

I was actually getting ready to ask for someone to provide some information like this for a sticky. So I've stickied italiano's original post, as I think this is a good starter's guide to the labyrinthine world of Panerai model numbers.

I would like to provide a lot more information on this, however. So, to all those PAM experts out there, I have two questions:

(1) Is there a resource out there showing pics of the most recent models (preferably with the letter designation like H, I, J, etc.)

(2) Is there a better resource than the original poster's link which would provide a bit more in the way of descriptions of the watches (movements, size, dates of production, sandwich dial, etc.)

My goal is to gather all this information and place it in a single stickied post in the Panerai section.

I found the viapaneristi.com website very helpful for identifying Panerai watches including modern, historical, and "limited edition" timepieces.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the VIPaneristi website has taken its pics and info from the link submitted by the original poster. They stop at 199.

OK, here's the best reference site I've been able to find:

hxxp://www.paneristi.com/reference/vend ... meset.html

change the hxxp to http.

Navigation isn't great, and the way they give information on model runs and production is less than a model of clarity, but at least they have info on most of the models through the 200s.

Hi guys,
This is the best site I have found to date, it also lists the panerai strap dealers in different countries around the world :-
