Quite a long story how my dad (60years old as of 2014) got this watch when he was 15years old! Recently took it out and have a closer examine. I have no idea if its a genuine watch.

Realize the word 'PPECISION' and another note the size/ font on 'N' is off from the rest.

Now to the 'OYSTERDATE' notice the 'Y' the right side of the way is shorter. And the word 'OYSTERDATE' is shorter than 'ROLEX'

Lastly, the 'SWISS' on the bottom , 6. Googled that it should be ' T swiss T' or 'SWISS MADE'

Sorry for all the lousy quality pictures all taken from my D802 through a 18mm 10x triplet

Could be an early 70's rep. Removing caseback will tell all.

the case back must be removed. all this detective work on the dial is chasing your tail. the answer lies within.

Will get it open, verify & service one fine day. The watch runs perfectly after so many years untouched very accurate keeping time to my trustable Seiko diver. Fully hand wind it and it can last 1and a half day appox. If the movement turns out to be a gen so it means it might be a repainted dial or fake dial??

So this watch is at least 45 years old. Must be a record for Rolex rep.

hmm maybe not. I'm sure they've been faking these for a long time. Pretty good rep if it was one from the 70's.

If this watch is all gen it would be worth a pretty penny with that mistake on the dial.

there is no way this watch is gen. the lettering is messy, even then rolex's printing was excellent. the word oysterdate is smaller than the word Rolex. The misspelling on Precision. The hour markers are crudely done. The word swiss looks like it was written i pen and is half covered by the rehaut. I don't believe this is in any way shape or form a genuine watch. I love the stories that always accompany a rolex that is unknown authenticity by the owner. but my guess is this is definitelly a rep. Did you get the caseback off yet? I'd be interested to see the pics of the movement.

My guess is a gen watch with a bad refinished dial.

I agree, lot of red flags here.

The word Rolex isn't printed on like most precision. Its like the indices and the crown logo, it solid and pops up. I have seen a few small oysterdate wording but different indices with tritium lume. I am eager to get the caseback open too. But I do not have have the tools to open it myself.
