I'm seriously considering a B&R Instrument Watch, but I'm still wondering which movement to go for, so maybe some of you can help me out:

- Asian 21J (Cheapest B&R's have this one, what does it say about quality?)
- Asia ETA 2892-2 (I'd presume the better of the two automatic movements?)
- Swiss ETA Quartz Chronograph (seems the most reliable choice).

As Quartz is the most reliable, I'd guess some would say to go for that, for it will save me the trouble with automatics. But somehow, I just LOOVEEE automatic watches, so I'd really prefer buying an automatic, if the movements have a good chance of it lasting for a few years.

Whadda you say? :)

Unfortunatly, we have since learned that NO ETA movement fits in this watch, and apparently the dealers have been full of BS about this. So no swiss in B&R, go with asian, your gonna get it anyway.

By the way I prefer the automatics myself! :)

I own the Asia ETA 2892-2 version (with 46mm case) and the movement is not as good as I initially thought (well for my case anyway)... It still works but I kinda have to kick start it... or wind it... very different from other watches I own that has 2836 movement - run smoothly just by shaking it normally.

Asian 21J B&Rs do not come in the right case size (39mm). It's incorrect in terms of how the watch should look.

Quartz too is incorrect movement for the chronos. (original should be 2894 - well I do not expect a rep to have such movement, but visually it should still be an automatic chrono).

So the most accurate looking B&R you can buy currently is SS Black Dial 46mm with Asian ETA 2892-2 movement (whatever the dealers call it). I think after servicing it should run fine... as stated above, mine still works, but not as reliable as my other 2836s.

Who said Swiss B&R? I was referring to it as Asian 2892-2 the whole time :)

2836 reference was regarding my OTHER watches - Rolex mostly.

The movement in the B&R is not even an asian eta copy according to ziggy.

Yeah... I wrote "WHATEVER THE DEALERS CALL IT" ;)

I know it's a marketing scheme... and the movement is not very reliable for me.

It's quite disappointing since the watch itself is very well constructed and accurate to the gen article.
