Navitimer Slide Rule

I've noticed that the slide rule on my Navitimer Rep doesn't turn as smoothly as the genuine. Any downward pressure tends to make it difficult to slide (friction). This is not the case with the genuine. Do the genuine and the rep use the same design/mechanism for movement. Is it possible to improve on the rep? Maybe lubrication?

I would try a little lubrication, /mds.

Thanks for the input. Should I just apply the lubricant in the groove between the case and the slide rule on the outside, or should the watch be taken apart? If it needs to be taken apart, how does the slide rule disengage from the rest of the case? Once again, thanks for the input.

I used a little oil intended for shavers into the gap at the edge, /mds.
