I was assuming the newer second generation Navitimers (3-6-9) would be the better choice. However, I'm afraid the slide rule not lining up would really bug me. Are there any shortcommings on the earlier generation that couldn't be remedied with a genuine dial and a 7753 movement? Am I correct in assuming that a genuine dial and 7753 movement woldn't fix the slide rule issue on the newer version?

You assumed right. The error is in the New slide rule. The old ones were ok, but the printing was feint.

You can spend money on a gen dial (which has to be modded) and ETA 7753 - but its not worth the outlay. As the gen Navi still has heavy double AR coating & Breitling date font.

So you might still be bugged by it!

The '7750' Navi is the slightly more accurate looking rep, but the '7753' is also very good. My advice (if u wanted it!) is just buy the new rep as it is. Unless you like modding watches?!
