Stunning pictures... :shock:
I only had the opportunity to 'attempt' to see the Eiffel Tower when it was terribly foggy out and on a bus full of Dutch with a Dutch-speaking tour guide.

I can't say enough nice things about it as a city it's amazing. I loved the Champs-Elysee and all the touristy bits, but the streets out of the centre were awesome too. I was staying in an affluent area of town so that was a plus but the buildings are simply stunning.
Architecture is awe inspiring, second only to Edinburgh lol.
The people were friendly and seemed to be generally quite pleasant, however I did go into some quite high brow shops, and was disappointed with some of the goings-on.
Example - My gf doesn't speak French at all, and she was trying to get some chocs from Lenotre and the pompus bitch that served her could clearly understand everything that my gf was saying to her but point blank refused to help her, and the started discussing this fact with the other service assistant.
Unbeknowns to her I speak french reasonably well and can easily hold a conversation so took great delight in showing this fact by deriding her completely infront of the manager and refusing to be served by her.
Sound petty but she was a real bitch and my gf was really upset by the encounter, and felt really embarrased by it.

It's annoying and one of the reasons Mrs Pugwash put forward for moving back to Scotland.
It's a touch of a culture shock for her cos scots are the friendliest people specially in pubs lol. She couldn't understand why someone would go out of teir way to be so anal. But I wish I could have taken a pic of the assistants face when I turned round and started talking to her in frnech lol, as mastercard would say, priceless lol.

This is a great, great city and your excellent pics make me want to return, which I will. Also Euro-Disney is something of a mind-f^cK for those of us who have been to LA, Florida

However, Pug, yourself being an actual resident and me having been only 2x (total ~ 2 weeks) perhaps my perspective is not accurate (?)

It depends where you are. Most of the time, if you make an effort, you'll get god service, but sometimes, just sometimes, you'll get that asshole. It happens a little too often though. As I speak French, I don't get the treatment, but I've been with tourists and friends who do.bigbadbrad said:

For all those interested, Pug, the pics were taken with a mere sony cybershot, and not my nikon d200, they are exactly as they came of the camera, no photoshopping, except the resize.
To say I was happy with the pics is an understaement, I was worried about how they'd look as I haven't used the CS in ages only the d200.
Plus the quality of the pics keeps the gf happy as she wants to make an album lol, women!
