I want to take a few minutes to share a build I have been gathering parts for. Thanks to my buddy Sub007 I had a gen 9411 dial come into my possession. Like many of them this dial had some rash around the edges and discoloration in the lume plots. Perfect! I'm not touching it. So here are the bits and pieces as they came together...
First up is the gen Snowflake dial from Beyeler. Set up for a ETA 2784 high beat.
Next mate it up with a gen NOS Swiss ETA 2784!
Load everything into a Phong case I bought from Jdog last year.
And here are a few more photos as I add a gen dome, crown, phong case back, phong bezel and Clark beep blue 5513 insert.
Bracelet is a rep jubilee with gen usa clasp and a pair of 555 end links. I like the way it all looks together. The dome is cool because at first glance it looks like a 9401 no date snowy. So I get the feel of both 9401 and 9411.
In the end this snowy build is not for the faint of heart! Gen dials are almost impossible to find and expensive when you do. A serviced 2784 will set you back a minimum of $250. Phong case and back is a $700-900 chunk. Dome, crown, mixing and matching hand sets add another $250. Bracelet...? Had it forever. You can easily hit $2000 pretty quick. And that doesn't count any build time. What do you think? Worth the $$$, time and effort?
As far as I am concerned, YES!
