Morning guys,
Today, I want to share with you all about my first franken Pam that I have spent quite a lot of $$$ and time to have it built by our great Pam builder @Grimlocktime . So sit back and enjoy.
After buying a couple decent reps, I was determined to get my first fraken Pam (of course it took me a while to understand what a franken means lol :ambivalence. Then I learned about our great builder @Grimlocktime , who had the most franken Pam for sale on the M2M. My grail Pam is a watch with a bit more sophisticated, 1950 case, swiss movement, and as gen as possible. So when this sale came up:

I decided to pull the trigger even though it doesn't have the 1950 case but it has everything else ... (Grim does have a good picture skill with his franken)
I believe this Pam196 already has many gen parts but I ended up adding even more to make it completely ... complete (one and for all :applause
- gen dial (of course)
- gen bezel (mint condition, shining!!!)
- gen crystal (first time I've seen - extra special)
And I added:
- brand new ETA 7753 (as per gen OP XII means $$$), I asked Grim to swap the ETA plate with the rep OP XII plate to get the correct look
- gen datewheel
- gen chrono hand
- gen crown guard (as wonderful as it can get, $$) --> one of the problem for this model listed in ALE's guide was the CG so I gotta have it changed :frusty:
- a gen Panerai rubber strap to make it complete
After about 3 months communicating, going back and forth, waiting and waiting ... (I would say the hardest part in this hobby is patience ... a lot of patience actually!!), the watch came back very nicely. Grim buffed/polished the case carefully so the watch is virtually scratch-less. On to the pics:
- Nice gen crystal:
- Gen CG:
- different angle shot: bezel
- Lume:
- Movement with gen datewheel & chrono hand - I think this is the biggest upgrade and the most $$$ invested
I think this end result is quite different with the original sale inside and out. I am very pleased with the watch and the movement is superb in keeping time and chronograph. The gen watch runs around 6,000 to 8,000 online now, some are cheaper but the condition is way worse (especially CG and bezel). I spent about 1/3 of the price for it. I'm not sure if it is worth it but I think it will last many years to come.
I was thinking about buying a gen Pam but the more I wear this watch, the better it gets so I am gonna put that idea on hold ... :bash: (my wife probably appreciates it a lot)
Thanks for reading. Comments are welcome.:gossip:
