My strap is a dust magnet.

I've been wearing my new (to me) PAM for a few days now and I love it. The only nit I can pick is that the rep Officine Panerai rubber strap that it came on collects rubber like a madman. Any time it touches anything, it gets dust or lint or dog fur etc. on it. It's nice and soft, but I really can't stand having to clean it every 5 minutes. I'm eventually going to put it on a nice leather strap, but half the fun of owning a PAM is changing straps and I'd like to keep this one!

Can anyone offer any insight into a remedy, other than buying a new strap?

Pics for clicks, with some dust visible:

Nope...the rep straps are notorious for this.

Best bet...buy a nice leather strap

hmm..perhaps you might wanna get one of the OEM straps...or get one of the newer rep straps...they seem to be much better quality and not really dust magnets...

the rubber strap on my 111J is not dusty at all..and i wear it very often..havent cleaned the strap since I bought it about a month ago..

I've actually heard that some of the newer rubber rep straps are "dust resistant", but I'm a bit skeptical. As for buying an OEM strap, I think I'd rather redirect that towards a nice leather strap, but definitely something to consider.

The big problem is the rubber in the straps is charged with static electricity. Any physicists in the forum willing to mock up a static electricity repelling watch box that infuses the straps with negatively charged ions? LoL

HA! In that case all I have to do is walk around with the strap permanently grounded to something to get rid of the static!

Ditch the rep strap and get a carbon fibre strap if you don't want the leather look.
