I thought David San's reps didn't suffer from the recessed pin syndrome? Can someone please clarify?

Many thanks!

His new Chinese movements don't have the recessed pin issue, I believe this movement is an ETA

Thanks for clarifying. I was going to place an oder for a watch with swiss mvt. when I saw this topic. I will change to the CN movement since the recessed pin syndrome has bad effects on my health :D

That is so cool. I will definitely have that done on mine after I receive. See I'm already spending money and I don't even have the watch in my hands yet.

but since the 009 is a base movement and Davidsen use thin hands, my 009 does not have any recessed pin syndrome even it is an eta

I have asked Davidsen b4 I ordered my 009 for the swiss movement, and he said he used thin hands to solve it as it is a base movement.

They don't. Base movements with Davidsen hands aren't recessed. That is why I asked him about belt and suspenders ... A long canon on a Base movement is frankly, overkill.

Don't jump to conclusions. Eta Swiss is fine for BASE dials with normal sized canon parts. None of the Davidsen watches have a recess, it is not specific to the movt being CN or CH.
Enzo....Thank you for further clarification on Davidsen's movements as far as the differentiation of movements concerning cannon pinion issues between CN and Swiss movements.

Hi guys. Thanks for your replies.

I must admit that I do not understand what is meant by BASE dial. Are you saying that the reason there are no recessed pin problems with David San's reps is because the hands he uses?

So, why did the original poster have the cannon pin changed?

I just ordered a CN mvt. 195 based on Ziggy's very favorable review of the movement. I am having second thoughts now...

Should I change my order to a Swiss mvt.? I welcome your opinions/suggestions.

Thanks!

a base dial is a dial without seconds hand.
the spare unitas/eta 6497/1 i have came from an other unitas rep with a base dial and there was a recessed pin problem even with a base dial. that's the reason why i asked ziggy to install a longer pin.

@RqThrottle: there is no recessed pin problem on davidsen cn movement.

oh... thank you so much for your explanation. So the 195 is not a base dial then since it has the seconds hand.

The statement that confuses me is

Eta Swiss is fine for BASE dials with normal sized canon parts. None of the Davidsen watches have a recess, it is not specific to the movt being CN or CH.

So, it doesn't matter whether the watch is a base dial or not (195), it will not have a recessed hand whether it has a Swiss or CN movement?

Im still a bit confused
