per·pet·u·al (p r-p ch - l). adj. 1. Lasting for eternity. 2. Continuing or lasting for an indefinitely long time.

It's just a reference to the fact that you dont need to wind it. ie automatic rather than manual.

For how I wanted it - not bad. But if I had wanted to take the easy way out and just bend the minute hand a smidge to clear the hour sticks - stupid easy. Like waaaay too easy.
