Hello All,
Well, as promised this is my review of Ryan and the PAM 111 that I bought from him last week.
Apologies in advance for the crappy iPhone pics, I have been really busy at work and have not had time to take some “proper†photos of this beauty. I will have time at the weekend so I’ll update with appropriate pics then.
Let me start by saying that Ryan is an absolute pleasure to deal with. He is fast, efficient and very helpful. Would I buy from him again? Definitely.
I am a UK based newbie to the watch scene so I was a little anxious about purchasing. So, let me tell you a bit about the process.
I contacted Ryan initially via PM asking if he had stock of said watch and, of course, he did. He gave me all the necessary details to make payment. I asked for the watch to come with a rubber strap as I had read that the standard leather straps are not of a good quality. I had decided to buy an aftermarket strap and keep the rubber one as a spare and explained this to Ryan in the PM.
The following day I sent payment via PayPal, which gave me a little piece of mind. Within three hours I had and email with QC pics of the watch with the rubber strap. Naturally I posted these up on the forum as it is quite hard to tell if the watch is “perfect†from QC photos, although Ryan’s pics were actually very clear.
At the time of ordering (Jan 2013) there was an issue with some of the 111’s coming with a dodgy looking 2 on the 12 numeral. Ryan’s watch did not have this issue but I was really looking for some assurance from other experienced members. I had done my research prior but was worried I might have missed something.
After waiting two days for responses to my post, to which all were positive, Ryan contacted me and asked if everything was ok. At this point he also offered to replace the rubber strap with an Asso strap as I had mentioned I had been looking for a better quality leather strap. He explained that this strap was a lot thicker and that I would be impressed with the quality overall. He was right.
I then agreed on the watch. Two hours later I had an email with the tracking number. Four days after that the watch was in my hand. It is beautiful. I am really impressed with the weight and quality of the thing.
Currently it is running around one minute per day ahead. I will get it serviced at some point and at the same time ask for the relevant mods to be carried out.
All I can say is learn from my experience – go with Ryan. He may not be a TD (he should be) but his customer service put me at ease and made the whole purchasing experience very enjoyable. What other dealer would offer to give you a strap that normally costs $40-$50 more?
I would like to take the opportunity to thank all those who helped out by responding to my post, it really helped to push the sale through.
Lastly I would like to thank Ryan – top service! I will be purchasing my 288k from you very soon!
Stephen
