Hello All,

Well, as promised this is my review of Ryan and the PAM 111 that I bought from him last week.

Apologies in advance for the crappy iPhone pics, I have been really busy at work and have not had time to take some “proper†photos of this beauty. I will have time at the weekend so I’ll update with appropriate pics then.

Let me start by saying that Ryan is an absolute pleasure to deal with. He is fast, efficient and very helpful. Would I buy from him again? Definitely.

I am a UK based newbie to the watch scene so I was a little anxious about purchasing. So, let me tell you a bit about the process.

I contacted Ryan initially via PM asking if he had stock of said watch and, of course, he did. He gave me all the necessary details to make payment. I asked for the watch to come with a rubber strap as I had read that the standard leather straps are not of a good quality. I had decided to buy an aftermarket strap and keep the rubber one as a spare and explained this to Ryan in the PM.

The following day I sent payment via PayPal, which gave me a little piece of mind. Within three hours I had and email with QC pics of the watch with the rubber strap. Naturally I posted these up on the forum as it is quite hard to tell if the watch is “perfect†from QC photos, although Ryan’s pics were actually very clear.

At the time of ordering (Jan 2013) there was an issue with some of the 111’s coming with a dodgy looking 2 on the 12 numeral. Ryan’s watch did not have this issue but I was really looking for some assurance from other experienced members. I had done my research prior but was worried I might have missed something.

After waiting two days for responses to my post, to which all were positive, Ryan contacted me and asked if everything was ok. At this point he also offered to replace the rubber strap with an Asso strap as I had mentioned I had been looking for a better quality leather strap. He explained that this strap was a lot thicker and that I would be impressed with the quality overall. He was right.

I then agreed on the watch. Two hours later I had an email with the tracking number. Four days after that the watch was in my hand. It is beautiful. I am really impressed with the weight and quality of the thing.

Currently it is running around one minute per day ahead. I will get it serviced at some point and at the same time ask for the relevant mods to be carried out.

All I can say is learn from my experience – go with Ryan. He may not be a TD (he should be) but his customer service put me at ease and made the whole purchasing experience very enjoyable. What other dealer would offer to give you a strap that normally costs $40-$50 more?

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all those who helped out by responding to my post, it really helped to push the sale through.

Lastly I would like to thank Ryan – top service! I will be purchasing my 288k from you very soon!

Stephen

I was also wondering the same thing. Thinking about to buy 111 H-factory from Sead but don't know which asso to take, light or dark brown. More pictures would be great! :)

I'd personally go with the vintage looking asso.

The lighter shade looks a bit tacky for me.

I'm getting jealous! Very nice Pam 111! Congrats mate! I'd just bought my first rep Pam 243 and now I wanted a Pam 111 or 127 for some formal occasions...

After getting my Pam243 and playing it around with straps, I had neglected my gen rolex ss sub and iwc 5004 bp. =)

Pam is addictive!

Yes, the lume looks yellow in colour from the pics. May well be the lighting. But it's definitely a 111.

Looks awesome!

Just an update - the Pam is still running strong. The strap is starting to break in and it is looking great! So glad I went for the Asso strap. I have had around 30 compliments on it so far :)

It needs a little adjusting as it is running +1 min everyday so when I get a service I will get a bloc mod and that sorted together, unless anyone in the UK has one of those machines I frequently see to sort it? (sorry I have no idea when it comes to this stuff!)

Lume is def white with greenish colour in dark - must be the light.

I'm now about to order my 288k when Ryan is picking up mails after CNY.

I think I will get a dark brown croC strap for that as I want to wear it as my work watch. What do you guys think?

OH NO!!!

Well, bad news guys. My Pam has a winding issue. When I try to wind the watch it doesn't. It just spins (not freely) and clicks where the winding bit on the back of the watch breaks away from the teeth on the cog part.

Sorry I am not using official terms here. I'll try to show some photos of what I mean. Any ideas?

EDIT***

I got it winding again and figured out the issue. It is the crown. It seems to just become loose. When I pull it out to set the time it is a real struggle to get it back in again. I have to flip the clasp closed in order for it to push the crown in. Before it would pop back in easily and firmly.

I tried searching for the issue but all I get is "no results" as I think I'm being too generic.

Exactly what I want to hear, just ordered my 243 and wonder how my gen Rolex will compare, a no date sub.

Can't wait for the PAM!
