My new Seiko - a little pictorial review

My latest acquisition is a Seiko SNKF11K1 also known as "Big Freaking Seiko". It's a 44mm case and it's one of the few Seikos with 24mm lugs. Which is awesome, because you can use all the cool Panerai straps on it. The watch is quite big, but doesn't wear that big in my opinion and it feels great on the wrist. It has an automatic movement with day and date function.

I've been searching for this model for quite some time and finally found one on ebay. It was the only one, so I just pulled the trigger.

Unlike most of the Seikos from ebay, this one comes in a Seiko box, complete with outer box, inner box, booklet, warranty card and receipt.

The strap that came with the watch was a black leather strap, but I didn't like it, so I have replaced it with this brown leather strap.

I like the big and clean dial, it's easy to read. Watch is water resistant to 100m.

Watch has the hardlex crystal. It would be nice if it was sapphire, but I can live with that. It's easy to read and doesn't catch many reflections.

Looks pretty cool with this strap.

Lume is standard Seiko lumibrite which is awesome. Photo below is 20 sec exposure, but it was not even dark in the room.

Only 5 sec exposure and a little more dark. Lume is great.

And the wrist shot.

I really like this watch. Hope you liked this little review.

Gorgeous Seiko!

Congrats on your gorgeous Seiko. I've been wearing them since late 1967 in Southeast Asia and since then. They're great, rugged, reliable, understated, etc. Perhaps an underrated treasure. Congrats and good luck!!

Seiko watches get names. I love it!

Seriously, I will go looking for this one (the model BFS, harhar!) It will dwarf my Black Monster.

Thanks for posting the pics. Top notch!

I agree indeed it is interesting, attractive and astonishing. I mean just look at the lume, how it glows almost like an LED. No wonder why Seikos are famous for their excellent lumes. Wear it in good health my friend.

Do you mind sharing price info, such as: any idea what retail was, originally? Looks like you got this new, perhaps? Mind sharing what you paid?

My first nice watch was a Seiko diver, but I have to say this one has real presence, makes me appreciate the brand all over again! Does anyone know if they are really out of production? If yes, they should keep their value very well!

I love this one too!!! I got the blue dial BFS (fully standard, with steel bracelet). And a black dial, slightly modded. He's beadblasted, with an beadblasted lumpy/watchadoo bracelet. And is now by my watchmaker for a sapphire crystal. The hardlex has collected of scratches in a few months. I love this model! My dream was to put an 6R15 Seiko movement with a see-through caseback. But it's impossible...

Very nice!
I think a darker strap would be the go, one of Bob Bean's ammo jobs maybe?
