Just showed up today, and I threw the MP Private Stock on her and snapped a quick pic.

I really like this one. It has the manual Seagull movement, BTW. Rock solid movement from all accounts I've heard (rep and non-rep alike).

What is the difference between a 212, and a 253? I gotta get one or the other.

212 = Flyback with silver chrono seconds hand

253 = Regatta with blue chrono seconds hand and waffle dial.

I ended up selling this one to JCM. It has the mineral crystal and the manual chrono movement. The dial is more correct on this model than the auto models, but the CG is way off and the gen is an auto.

The high end auto models have sapphire cyrstals and better CGs, but the tick marks on the dial "point" the wrong way.

So, it's a question of how much you want to spend and what flaws you can live with.

Glad you're still liking it, man. I'm sure the better CG could be swapped on, if you could source one...

There's a project for you. Pick up an auto 212 2nd hand and see if you can swap the dial from the manual onto the auto. Best of both worlds!
