My new PAM196 I from Angus... strap opinions?

Hi Guys,

Got my first real quality rep yesterday from Angus, a 196I - http://pureti.me/product/pam196-i-luminor-daylight-ultimate-black-dial-on-bracelet-a7753/

Its a beaut! really has that wow factor, here's a couple of quick phone shots I grabbed before the wife stole it away to wrap it for Christmas :( - better shots to come.





This is my first Auto, and first Chrono PAM. Actually my first real rep PAM - I have four sterile homages from Jackson, all handwinds - a 111, 177, 127 and a Black Seal. So I took a chance that I would like the busier dial - and I really do. I still like the stark dials of the classic Luminors but the busyness and the polished Bezel of the Daylights really give it a pop!

So I got it on the bracelet for something a little different to what Im used to (and let me tell you... POP!), and I have the branded Rubber strap, and black Croc strap... But Id like to also have a couple of options that add a bit of colour - Ive seen a couple of example on shiny tans but mostly see the Daylights on Black Croc, Bracelet or Rubber.... Anyone got some shots of Daylights (stick to Black Dials) on different straps?

PS - Huge thanks to ALE for his incredible guides, especially his 196 specific comparison thread! Also thanks to ALE for answering my noob questions during the purchase process - once again the people within the forum really make or break it, and ALE totally makes the PAM section! :)

I am also in the market for a super accurate 196 rep. I came across Toro's 196H with A7753 that has for a little over $200 but I'm not sure how accurate it is. Is the 196i more accurate? I've been away from the game for a while. Any advice?

Great, thank you! But how do I know which version is on Torros web site at the special pricing?
He just says Noob factory on his web site. But how do I know if it's the 2013 or the 2010 version?

Check the photo of the case back, if its a H thats a 2010, if I its a 2013.

Well I officially have my 196 now and I love it and the bracelet, but Ive tried it on a few straps and havent found a bad combo yet :) I especially like it on rubber but thats normal for me.

I also have a 127 Homage and got a very nice "Tan" strap for it from Steve-O-Straps - I think I'd like to get something similar for my 196 too... I dont have my 127 with me at the moment to show but I have collected some pics (thanks for the Strap Sticky ALE :) ). This is the kinda thing Im after, not slick alligator, but not super roughed up vintage either...







Ive been doing some looking around and have seen it called Ammo or French Ammo - with names like Ted Su and Justin Chen associated, but they are bloody expensive.

What are your thoughts for who you would deal with to get something like this?

Guys I posted another thread comparing the 104 to a "ghost" 237, and now I am back to this 196 Noob Daylight.

Can you guys tell me which is closest to the gen?
I really like the 196 best. but I'm not sure if it's flaws can be obvious when compared to the gen. I really don't want to get called out. What is your opinion? Can I get called out on the flaws of the latest 196 Noob?

If so, what about the 237?

I cant really comment on whether you will get "called out" or not but I would go with something ALE has given SuperRep status if you are going to be telling people its gen. (Study the Guide / Bible )

I think I read a thread somewhere where people were saying the majority or people wont notice your watch at all, a few people will notice it but not know what it is and not really care what it is, even fewer people will notice it but not know what it is and ask about it, and even fewer people still will notice it and know what it is and say nothing, and even fewer people than that will notice it and know what it is and comment on it... and even then, you'd have to give them the watch to study (or stay very still for them to look hard) for them to know its a rep - if they really know a lot about the brand.

If you do run into such a person I think you're more likely to get the question "Is it real?", than "Thats a fake!"

If you choose to lie and tell someone that interested in you watch that its real, I guess there is always a risk of them calling you out

I personally always tell people that mines a rep if it comes up, but thats really rare
