Here it is. I just got home and threw this chocolate GeF strap from Elliot on there, I think it makes a fantastic combo! It brings out the brown in the dial.

AR coated sapphire, thick crown, Swiss movement and no cannon pin issue!

Yeah, yeah, the Marina Militare font is a little smaller than the Luminor Panerai font, and probably a little closer to the center of the dial than it "should" be. I'm going to be removing the Luminor Panerai text with a little bit of paint thinner and a Q-Tip, anyway to make it "unbranded" (unless they see the back of the watch  ).

I'm pleasantly surprised with the quality of the watch, actually. Especially for the price. Ruby was fantastic.

Anyway, here are the pics:

Thanks, guys. I forgot to add that the lume on the hands appears to be pretty decent. The dial, well......

EDIT -- I forgot to add that the rep strap (while being crappy) came with tubes!!!! I put them in the GeF strap from E. First time I've ever used tubes, I kinda like 'em!

Excellent choice !
I've bought the very same model some time ago, swapped the dial with the more "correct" one :).

That fat crown and big-momma CG are really something. Engraved serial numbers on case close to lugs rather than caseback, just add to its 'authenticity'. IMO, that old style 036 case is worth $100+ on its own.

It also comes with purple AR sapphire hue, instead of standard rep blue.

Nice one mate,
babola

Hey peepS.... I got the same watch last weekend from Ruby. Like me you forgot to take a pic of the titanium buckle........ There's just something about the Ti buckle....really adds to the overall package. But I hate to tell you this, my watch looks a lot better and keeps better time than yours............

FYI for anyone looking, Joshua (and I would assume Trusty) appear to be carrying this same watch (fat crown/CG, correct engravings, etc) with the more accurate dial. It's a bit more expensive than the one Ruby is selling, but there you have it.

Just a Public Service Announcement from your local Panerai enabler!

Only Joshua stocks this 'updated' 036 at the moment, as of last week.
He is also using a diferrent distributor to Andrew's for some of his watches, hence the diferences in models and versions.

cheers,
babola

That's good info, Babola. I thought those two were always same/same.

Thanks!

The font on Josh's version looks pretty good, IMO. Although, I'm not the font expert that Babola is. On Ruby's watch, the "Marina Militare" printing is too close to the center of the dial and is a little smaller font than the "Luminor Panerai" printing.

No swan neck on either movement, although I have no idea if that's a flaw or not. Neither are Superlumed, I believe.

So, Josh's is more complete, but it's also $60 more + shipping. Ruby's was $209 shipped.

The lume on the hands is very very good. Among the brightest 'stock' hands lume on any rep I've received.

The downside is the dial has very weak lume. Relume the dial and all is good.

Agreed. If you really want to go the extra mile, you can get the hands Superlumed, too, but not really necessary, IMO.

i just hope davidsen makes a version which is just as good. I am almost tempted to just buy this 036, buy a davidsen dial+hands and see what happens with the finished product...
