Well, I did it. I got a Pam GMT. Nice watch, like it, but don't love it. Yet.
What ya think???? Sorry for the bad shots. Wife took the good camera.

Edit: This watch closely resembles Model 161... Not the 088 Model.

Well,

I love the 088 and 089... probably my next watch...

Just not digging this model though... maybe the pictures... not sure... which model is it?

Is this your first Panerai? Is it the size your not sure about liking or this model? Also... that bracelet sure does make a huge difference in weight.

It's the 088. The movement is perfect. First one too. The bracelet is love/hate... I took three links out and it's to loose. Two links and it's too tight.

Good choice, now get some straps for it. :D The steel does`nt lend itself on this model.
Btw, when I saw your name I had to look...

Ok, what would be a good strap that would help this watch?? I have to load my Shultz avatar!

congratulations on the PAM GMT! your 1st pic, the head on shot of the dial, i like but not too crazy about the rest of the pics

i'm a newbie with panerai and originally liked the bracelet look but the more i wear my pams the more i am inclined to replace the bracelet with a strap. post pics of the straps you will match up to the GMT.

wear in great health!

Hogan, i think you will start loving your Pam once you get the right strap. Your pictures are very helpful...i don't think i would want the ss bracelet on it either. Anyway, my Pam came in with the rubber deployment strap which i am getting accustomed to but i had seen some pix on here of Pam's with thick leather straps so i've been looking. here is a link to a strap i just bought from a member today which i think i am going to really like:

if you still end up not enthusiastic about your Pam, dont worry. i think there will be plenty of takers on RWI if you decide to sell that baby.

Dude, you have crossed over. Get that thing on a strap before I slap ya!
On a great vintage looking strap it will look better, 6mm thick, brownish to tan,
minimal stitching.

Close... $140. I haven't tried but I do see the pins near the case so in theory it should come off..

Brown stitchless. Why? because the GMT dial isa already rather busy and needs taming down. I think that's why the stainless doesn't work on it. Brown because it will make that beautiful black dial pop up in contrast. I bought a dark green stitchless for my TI PAM GMT from Savage, with the anthracite dial and greenish lume, and it is just a stunner combo. Yes, they are pricey straps, but they make the watch. Incidentally, I got matching buckels for my two Savage straps from Davidsen, who sold me the watches. His buckles match the watch perfectly, in my opinion.

After looking at all the gen's, this one is pretty close to model 161.

I'd vote for a Gunny strap, probably a Caitlin 1 or 2. That'd finish it off nicely.

Hogan,
I think the only reason you are on the fence on this one is because you haven't worn it "uninhibited" in front of a full length mirror!
