Sooo... it's been a while since I owned a rep. For some reason I decided to sell all last year and started a Seiko collection.
But something was missing. I needed a Panerai on my wrist. I just love how they look. So I started looking at sales forum and this 111h ultimate turned up. I pulled the trigger and a week later it's on my wrist. I bought it from johngr, who bought it from Trevor. He never wore the watch, so it's practically new.
Watch came on a rubber strap, but I changed it to a strap that I made myself.
Anyway, since you all know this watch better than I do there's no need for a description, I'll just post some pictures.

I find nothing sexier than reading a title with Pam & pic heavy. Great watch and strap, I'm envious.

Question for pam experts:

Is "L swiss made L" on my watch too close to 6?

Somebody please answer my question from above :)

Is the "L swiss made L" too close to the 6?

Also, is this a good enough rep to invest into mods like superlume and AR?

Sorry to ignore your question Mat, but I'm not an expert on such things...

Just wanted to show some appreciation - gorgeous combo, and kudos for the strap... Well done! :)

OK I shall regurgitate what was told to me when i showed my 111H (Also from Trevor) a few weeks ago at a watch meet.

Yes, the L Swiss Made L is too close to the 6, but more importantly the font of the dial is wrong for the sandwich dial we have. i have the exact same watch and on mine the same tells are present. the curve of the 2 in the 12 should be smaller at the top and the base of the 2 needs to extend slightly past the curves of the 2. This font was apparently carried over from the previous sausage dial models and if you have a sausage dial 111 that would be not too bad, but because it's a sandwich dial that's off.

CG is also off. On this one in particular (like mine) it's a bit too thin and uneven. when looking from the side it should slant upwards a little toward the top and the lever should be somewhat in the middle of the CG, not closer to the face of the watch.

I too asked the same questions about the watch I have, whether it's worthy of mods and what not. the answer from the experts was generally no. to get this 111H to be really accurate you're looking at a dial change, a re-lume, CG change etc etc. generally the group said to just wear it or start off with a better rep.

i've decided to keep it and wear it as is. i might try the lume someday if i learn how to but i'm not going to sweat the details.

I love the look of the watch and i'm really okay if the enthusiasts can spot it a mile away because i'm not ever going to hide the fact that it's a rep. I also got the 288K and that's a very handsome watch, and apparently a really good rep too. no mods for that one either.

someone please correct me if i've misled the OP here. i'm also very new to this hobby and i really enjoy the wealth of information on this forum. if anyone can offer more accurate info please post here too. i'd like to learn too! =)

Thanks that's exactly what I wanted to hear. I'll wear it as it is then and spend the money on another watch rather than on mods. The watch looks good as it is (to me) and nobody that I know or hang out with doesn't even know what Panerai is so they wouldn't notice the difference anyway.
