Great watch from a great manufacturer. Roland is a stand up guy.
BTW all German sports watches seem to be Sinn like. B&R as well. Germans are known for their precision not their imagination.

From what I understand, Sinn took over the contract after Heuer. I think they may have even used the left over Heuer case stock in the beginning of their run. Bell and Ross put a couple of models out, but they were made by Sinn too. The Kemmner is constructed like the gen Bundeswehrs. Ray Wong has a sterile version on ebay, but it's a screw down case back, and from what I have heard inferior. Kemmner's "real" company I have heard supplies some big/ expensive names' cases. The think the Kemmner brand is something Roland does on the side. Anyway, I love the watch. Quality through and through. This model was a limited run. I got lucky. Roland still has a few on the side.

Why bundeswehr? This isnt an officially issued dienstuhr i think? I dont know if there is even any service branch to which they provide watches with the personal equipment!? Maybe in the early years and only for flying personnel, but nowadays...?
I never served in the bundeswehr because i signed up for a seven year term as a firefighter (when i was eightteen, back in 1999, there still was general military service duty for every male, but firefighters was a way to avoid that and i found that to be more interesting) but lots of my friends had to serve there and definitely noone was issued a watch....

Heuer issued these watches (SG 1550, with a big "BUNDESWEHR" engraved on the caseback) to Luftwaffe pilots from 1967 to the end of the 1970s. As far as I know, currently serving pilots get chronographs by Tutima, though I'm not sure how the disappearance of Lemania 5100 movements is going to affect that.

stamsd: Congrats on the Kemmner!

Nice watch! I've been intrigued with the variations & homages made over the years (Sinn, Guinand, Ray Wong, Kemmner, etc). Here's my Bund-issue Heuer
