My new and improved Vsf 124060

I just got my vsf 124060 back from @watchservicesny and had to share this thing of beauty with people who will appreciate it.
I had the movement nearly brought back to the original Rolex design. @watchservicesny was kind enough to perform a complete service and installation of several genuine Rolex parts. He also pressure tested it so I don’t ruin everything by getting it wet. The watch was new and never put on a wrist. He changed out the complete barrel and mainspring, pallet forks, escape wheel, balance bridge, and balance wheel. He also installed a 3230 jumper lever to eliminate the ghost date issue. I couldn’t be happier. Here’s a few pictures

Not a chance. @watchservicesny is top shelf. You must have him confused with someone with a similar screen name. He works on watches and lets his work do all his talking. He rarely if ever joins in on the banter that gets people banned. He’s definitely a man of few words and I’ve got the messages to prove it. He runs his service by the numbers. No surprises or bull shit games. He’s straight up and down like 6 o’clock.

If your Hulkster is a vsf you might wanna keep it and just save up for a Starbucks. Unless you’re going to Frankenstein the movement I’d recommend the 40mm Starbucks vsf with the vs3135. Parts availability sucks for all of the watches using Dandong 32xx series movements. Just saying

Just a question about the two movements? I’m about to pull the trigger on a 124060 and I’m leaning towards the VSR as it’s more expensive!! The fact that the VS has a ghost date doesn’t really bother me. So that said is it superior to the VR that Clean uses? How come VS don’t make a 3230? Any advice on which one to choose and why would be gratefully accepted.

It’s a tough call. If clean had a decent crystal it would be the best choice because you can get parts for them. However I can’t stand the crystal on cleans. If you open the competition to include the 40mm version it’s an easy choice. The 114060 vsf is the one to go with. I planned on Frankensteining the movement on the 124060 all along or I would’ve bought the 114060. It has everything a buyer could want in my opinion. Better crystal than clean, parts are available, and you can Frankenstein the movement. Some say the clean has a better shape case but I can’t see it. The only problem with clean is the crystal but it’s a really bad crystal. A decent replacement is about a hundred bucks plus the price of installation. Why put yourself through that hassle when you can get the vsf 114060 and have something that checks all the blocks right ootb. I’m sure others will disagree but that’s my humble opinion.

Hello RepFam! If you own a VSF Oyster Perpetual or a VSF 41mm no-date Submariner, congratulations, you have the best possible movement in your rep. However, when VSF made these reps, they didn't get Dandong to modify the VS3235 into a VS3230... that means that there's a phantom date correction...

This is a good option. I purchased one myself after trying unsuccessfully to source a Gen. I received it in a couple of days and it looked really nice. When I went to have my watchsmith install it I learned he’s able to get Gen parts for the Rolex’s he services. Naturally I went with Gen.

Ho quasi riportato il movimento al design originale Rolex. @watchservicesny è stato così gentile da effettuare un servizio completo e l'installazione di diverse parti Rolex originali. Ha anche eseguito un test di pressione in modo che non rovinassi tutto bagnandolo. L'orologio era nuovo e non l'ho mai indossato al polso. Ha sostituito completamente il bariletto e la molla principale, le forcelle dell'ancora, la ruota di scappamento, il ponte del bilanciere e la ruota del bilanciere. Ha anche installato una leva di collegamento 3230 per eliminare il problema della data fantasma. Non potrei essere più felice. Ecco alcune foto
